80 Another nice local option, can be a long drive to get there with the average roads & traffic. However once you’ve made it you have a pretty big range of beers with good food. Big playground for kids as well |
88 Colonial is a superb pub to hit up in between Margaret River and Dunsborough. A cosy inside greets you before an expansive outside area with plenty of tables. Service was fantastic and super friendly the whole time. It helps to know Paul but it was great before he even got there. All the most recent single batches they’ve done were available as well as all there standard beers. You can also get growlers as take away of all of them and they are priced superbly. Food was great. Roast to share between 4 and a few burgers and wings. All tasty and well priced. Really enjoyed going here. Other Colonial owned venues I’ve been too always have a sterile feel to them but this was homely and inviting and I will be coming back |
50 Nice place with OK, but not very interesting beers. |
66 A must for me everytime i hea down south, They have one of the tastiest Fresh IPA’s i’ve ever had. It’s got a real backyard sunday afternoon chillout kind of feel. The takeaway Growlers are a nice touch! |
78 I was really impressed with this place. It’s a shiny metal tin shed in the middle of absolute nowhere outside of Margaret River but damn the beers were all fantastic. Particularly impressive were the beers that would usually be boring - the brown ale and Kölsch. All the beers were served in perfect condition, couldn’t have been fresher. The pub itself is a very modern, shiny, typical brewpub affair. Lots of sunlight and a huge outdoor area with a playground. Great for sitting out in the sun for a few beers. Seemed like a very kid-friendly place. Service was of the classic, clueless young-women-with-no-interest-in-beer, brewpub style, but fairly friendly. A pretty odd location for one of Australia’s best breweries. Highly recommended. |
72 Thanks again to ALLOVATE for posting this fine brewpub. I visited in November 2005 as well. A very modern, open concept kind of place that is architecturally very clean and open looking. Quite spacious, although I agree with ALLOVATE that it can get pretty packed. A terrific line of house brews to try, and something for every palate. The brewmaster was very knowledgable and approachable when I was there, but rumour has it that the baton has been passed and it is under new authority now (I haven’t confirmed this, so I may be starting a rumour!). Anyway, definitely worth going out of your way for when you are down in the valley. |
66 Breath of fresh air for the state of brewing in the Sou’ West. Packed to breaking point with people on my visit, but we fitted in with ease to enjoy a tasty meal and some fine brewed ales and lagers. They bottle their mainstays now, so I had to join the club to enjoy a few back home. |
