Cool place, and the bottle shop in the back that has taps of its own is super cool. Between the two, selection is excellent. As for the Pub, selection good with lots of local stuff. Service was friendly and knowledgeable. Food was good. When in Williamsburg, especially if doing tourist stuff, it’s a must hit, particularly if your hotel has a fridge, since everything closes early.

Nice old bank building in colonial Williamsburg.... sports bar area with a nice long bar, high top tables and restaurant seating.... for families we were seated downstairs in a smaller area but still very nice ... waitress was quick and knew her beers .... food menu had a lot of good variety and a mix of southern cuisine, BBQ and your standard burgers and pasta ... there is a bottle shop next door which had glassware, shirts and a lot of local Virginia craft beers as well as Shelves of micros and international sections..... had some beer specials for $5 but reg priced glass was $8 .... I’d definitely seek this place out ... had a really good time here with the family.

nice looking place though ecclectic with rustic and appropriate Williamsburg setting, then large glaring tv’s rowed out right next to each other at the bar. colonial furnishings and trappings with glass. service a little ditzy but friendly and nice. i thought the food was very good but wife thought they used too much butter.they certainly use it. nicely laid out bottle list.

Great food and beer stop downtown. Bitter valentine, backwoods bastard, grand illumination, other great locals. Food was very good too, big cups of soup, nice burgers and fries, oyster salad!

Great selection and opportunity for half pints. Food was a nice range of selections. Just beat the crowd cause it gets really busy

Visited 2/2/13 in the late afternoon. Was fairly crowded but found a seat at the bar no problem. Was quickly handed menus. Excellent selection tap. Did up a 3-sample flight (which I love a place that does custom flights). Served up perfect, full pours. Staff was knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Ordered a small plate (fried green tomatoes) and it arrived quick and was delicious, but lives up to the "small" plate name. Good snack though. Atmosphere was great. Not too loud even when crowded. Very clean. Can’t wait to return.

Visited on a tourist trip 8/12/2012. Extremely busy on a unseasonably warm December Saturday, which meant we had to book a table outdoors and return 45 minutes later. The wait was well worth it, as I got to try bottled beers from Founders and the local Alewerks and also enjoy a very large and tasty chilli dog. Service was very friendly, although that was probably helped by the fact we had a baby in tow. A fun location.

Went here on 11-17-2012. Came after going to AleWerks. Sat in the bar area. Ordered drinks that came out quickly. Ordered the DoG Street Burger and that came out quickly as well and was huge. Burger lived up to the $10 price tag. After that, however, our server disappeared. We found him ~30 minutes later and he said we needed to order through another server whom we had not met. We finally found her and ordered more drinks but it was a bit slow. Understandably they were busy on a Saturday night after a W&M Football game but the lag in service was a bit disappointing. Still, I’ll return if in the area.

Situated in a neatly renovated colonial building smack dab on Merchant’s Square (must be expensive real estate), this is a cozy, near-upscale restaurant/bar with a pretty impressive beer list. The day of my first visit, the draft list ran an impressive gamut from regional seasonals to a never-heard-of-it German hefeweizen, to pretty unique, less available Belgians, to sturdy American craft samples from the opposite coast -- unique, varied, and high quality. The bottle list is the biggest part of the menu, and although it offers a bit less percentage of rarities than the tap list, is impressive enough. The food menu is a relatively simple. Small plates, salads, sandwiches, burgers -- but with unusual, "gastropub" twists. We tried a shaved roast beef and ham and cheddar, both quite nice. The service was efficient if a bit detached and patronizing. Biggest knock here is the prices -- $1 to $3 more for comparable serving sizes for the same beers available at other fine purveyors in Hampton Roads. Suppose that comes back to the real estate. Worth popping in if you’re being a tourist, and I might pop back in to see what surprises they have to offer another time.
