84 Great place, just as good as the barrel house in San Leandro. For a place with mediocre beers widely distributed, Drake's does its home bases right.
Huge building in a street-type market, outdoor and indoor spaces. Would guess around 25-30 lines, mostly their own stuff. Their own stuff is damn tasty. Good at styles I can normally take or leave, great at styles I like. Lots of IPAs and sours but enough other stuff to chose from to hit all types of strokes different folks like.
Food was superb (pizza, but they have burgers and snacks too). Decent prices too. Well worth going out of your way for. |
74 Big open-air garden. Good taplist with a good variety of beers. Enjoyed our visit, though not sure I'd rush back. |
72 Meh, I like the San Leandro one better. And it's cheaper beer-wise. Growler fills, forget it like $30 yeah right. Huge place which is the only thing I love about it. |
80 Massive place, in a hipstery type building in downtown Oakland. Lots of beers on tap, and a lot of really interesting ones. Had a great stop in that regard, and the service was good even as we were closing the place down. |
74 Massive place right downtown, with tons of seating. Modern atmosphere and very busy. Custom flights available of the house beers, though rather pricey. Very friendly service. Worth visiting if you can’t get to the Barrel House in San Leandro. |
88 Went here with Nils together, to run around, have awesome beer and celebrate my 6000th! Large place with lits of outdoor seating, bit indoor is very pleasant too. Busy but well organized, with a clean yet inviting feel. Very, very friendly staff, very honest. The food looked really great, but wasn’t hungry. Beers are amazing, tapped in top quality and for decent prices. Loads to choose from. Some shirts and other memorabilia are sold. Welcoming place for single visits as well as groups, casual as well as a bit more formal. Very fun place to be. |
88 Everything we tried was interesting, to delicious, wish we were hungry as the food looked nice. |
82 Visited on Monday for a later dinner with a friend. Easy to find in uptown Oakland. As mentioned on their website, public transportation is the way to go - parking is crazy. Located in the back of the building, enter through the big open biergarten space. ⅔ of the restaurant is the outdoor space, with the the remaining ⅓ making up a bar area. A bunch of tables, as well as fire pits are set up outside. THis place was very dog friendly. Service was prompt and friendly. Food is primarily pizzas and burgers and the pizza I had was quite good. Beer selection is 13 core Drake beers, and 12 limited release Drake beers. Wide variety of styles, high quality beers. I really enjoyed the scene and vibe here. 82 = ★★★½ (Solid place, near the top of the list for locals and visitors) I only use the total score, not the component parts. |
86 Like others said, parking is a bitch but well worth the trouble. Inside is a big bar with plenty of seating. A bug patio outside with lots of seating. Around 35 taps, a few guest but mostly house beers. Cool place. |
86 A very beautiful place! A bar with nice wooden labels for each beer on tap at the background, big wooden tables and a fireplace inside. There is a nice big courtyard with many tables and many fire pit tables. I had all the Drakes beers in flights. I didnt try the food. Service was good and prices were OK. |
