Thought I'd drop in to this place since we were staying nearby and although it has a certain charm about it, I doubt I'll be back. The deal breaker is the plastic beer mugs and wine glasses. We were there during the daily half price 'happy hour' (4-6pm) which means it is a bargain, but....plastic mugs.... no thanks! Pretty pathy service too. They have a dozen or so taps with a variety of craft offerings, pizza by the slice served on paper plates and a selection of pinball machines. The main bar at the back has a stage and the overall venue, as others have noted, has a distinct dive bar rock/punk vibe. I certainly see its appeal, but there's many better places in Sydney these days.

A punk rock bar/restaurant with a decent tap selection. Front area only has 3 taps but more in the back. Dimly lit. Gets crazy when work lets off. Service was good considering the rush but not beer oriented. The slice of pizza I had was good not great. Prices were cheap. Not really a beer destination IMO.

They seem to have 12 taps in the back room plus 4 on the restaurant area. I’ve only ever seen 9 different beer served at the one time though.

Visited twice more on Friday October 9, 2015. First late night, then after midnight. First time very nice, next time packed as hell and playing old 80’s music/rock by DJ I almost forgot listening to when young. Good beer selection, when not crowded super nice service, when crowded you get to wait and/or make sure you’re noticed. Didn’t eat this time around. I can go back again for sure.

OK, so have been back several more times during this trip, mainly since it is located 1 minute walk or less from my hotel, but also due to special beer and an event during Sydney Craft Beer Week. On the latest two visits have at times had extraordinary good and friendly service! The "10" score certainly is not in affect the whole time and at each visit, but the times it has been makes me warm up to the place a lot! have had pizza there once more, but sat in the outer room this time. Would very likely return if in Sydney again!

Two more visits on Tuesday Oct 13, 2015. First for a pizza around 1800, then again for a few beers at about 2230. Pizza was nice, but a bit expensive. In the evening they had rock n roll karaoke with a live band. The bouncer this time was behaving rather like a dick, other times have had no problems. Same tap list as on Friday still. Noticed bugs/beetles on the back wall towards the kitchen, quite a few of them, made eating there more times feel sort of an issue. Pizza about $20, tap beers $8-10 or so. Didn’t look at the bottled list.

Visited evening of July 17, 2013.
Printed the Sydney places listed on ratebeer on June 10, this wasn’t there, only saw it on my phone, but managed to get there my last full night in Sydney.
Found the sign easy enough, but had the hardest time finding the door to the place... If this girl hadn’t opened what looked like part of the wall I might never have found it at all.
Down some steps to a basement location. First room has a more restaurant feeling to it, pizza place, some beer taps, Inner room has a long bar with plenty of taps and some seating by it, also tables with more seating.
Ordered a pizza, wanted to change one topping, they didn’t do that. Not sure if they use ready made pizzas or just refuse to let you change any, so be prepared to eat a pizza that is available, or not eat. Pretty expensive pizza too, nice, but expensive.
Nice tap selection, but minus for serving the beers in plastic mugs.
Located within walking distance from Circular Quay.
Nice enough place, not sure I’d go back for the pizza, but can see myself come back for the beer selection.
Never counted the taps, but sure as hell were a lot more than 4! I had 5 different beers from tap, and wasn’t close to sampling half of what they had to offer. Perhaps the larger amount of taps were only in the back room where I sat?
Oh yeah, when ordering the pizza you get a number, need to make sure to keep an eye on a LED thing on the wall, when your number is up you need to go to the front room and pick it up yourself.

Strange combo with craft beer, pizza and roackabilly, but seems to work. Not too happy with the plastic jugs, would rather have beer from a real glass. Visited a couple of times in October 2015 during my latest trip to Sydney.

A surprising find for downtown Sydney. Frankie’s is a grungy pizzeria (if you can call it that) that so happens to have good craft beer. There’s two bars front and back. The front room is smaller and quieter than the larger bar in the rear. The ambiance is dark and divey with white and black checkered lino flooring and the walls are covered in posters of bands and music artists and such that provide character. There’s also pinball tables. Service was fine. I have two annoyances about this place though. Firstly, the draft beer is served in horrible plastic frosted mugs. I mean really? When you’re paying as much as one does for beer in Oz you at least want a proper glass vessel to drink out of. I’d be even more disappointed if the expensive bottles don’t come with a glass. I didn’t bother to ask. Secondly, the pizza is average at best but I’m happy to put that down to personal preference. Regardless, I still recommend stopping by, at least for a nice change in setting to drink good beer.

Excellent place! If you’re a beer/pizza/rock music/pinball machine/people dressed up in "I-don’t-give-a-crap" rock gear, then this is your place!! Through the door and down the stairs takes you to a small quiet-ish bar type area. Keep going past that and you end up in the main area with the big bar, pinball machines to your right and stage at the end where live rock bands appear around 5 nights a week. The beer list is getting quite long so there is always something to chose from. The pizza is pretty decent but the atmosphere is awesome. If you’re after a small chat over a few quiet ones, this probably isn’t your place.

Awesome concept. Faithfully recreate a pizza restaurant of years gone by and stack it with craft beer. Complete with irreverent photos of family holidays in the mother country, garlic hanging from the walls and wood veneer archways. It really is something else. 4 beers on tap (Hargreaves, Mornington, Murrays, Riverside) and 36 by the bottle. Some heavy hitters on the list inc Evil Twin, Cantillon, Greenflash, Birra del Borgo and Moylans. Pricing ok. Great pizza options and a well thought out wine list. Pricing good on the latter. Very busy for a Tuesday night. 4am licence means plastic glasses - no biggie.
