70 Smaller but quite similar to 12, but much more locals and staff was a tad better. Pizza is the main thing here and as usual they take CC, have wifi and cheap flights. Tap list looked a touch smaller, but still quite large. |
80 Similar atmosphere to #12 though apparently a different crowd. It was quiet on our visit. Selection was excellent - 2 more beers than #12 had at the same time. Couple of guest taps. Well worth the visit, even if you're at #12 worth popping over for this one. |
76 Similar vibe and decor to the #12 location but with a more communal feel with long tables and open floor space. The brewing kit can be seen at the back. Pizza is the main focus here and it’s real good. I visited during a quiet lunch service and enjoyed my time. Natural light channel through the windows providing a nice atmosphere. Check out the steel laser-cut map of Beijing, very cool. |
70 Crazy busy and exceedingly loud at Great Leap Brewing #45 on a Thursday night. . It’s a big space with a bunch of booths, picnic tables by the windows and a long bar. Easily seat 100-200 people at this is their production facility and was packed to the rafters during our visit. While slammed the staff stayed friendly but as I had high expectations the beers disappointed. Crowd skews to 20s-35 year old expats/locals, fun but noisy. |
78 Visited the GLB # 45 on a Saturday afternoon when only a few guests were present. A friendly, spacious brewpub, easy to find (though the mark on the RAB map is as usual slightly wrong). The music was too loud, as in most bars. 12 own beers and 5 guest beers on tap, among them Epic and Boxing Cat (Shanghai). Friendly staff with very limited English. English menu available. There is even a rooftop terrace but the staff didn’t let me go there (and tried in vain to explain the reason in Chinese). As to food, I had a Caesar salad which was rather disappointing. All in all, a very nice place. |
