88 A good biergarden in a nice hutong. Local beers are so good! |
24 Got there only because its listed as No1 at Beijing.
Totally disappointed... :(
Crowded noisy uncomfortable dirty place at nowhere location. Several pretty simple beers on tap. No bottles offered.
Basically no service at all - only pouring pints. Food is delivered by phone orders only -- looks really nasty.
Huge disappointment from that place - highly not recommended unfortunately. |
70 Deep in a Hutong this is a nice spot that had quite a few locals, but still more expats. As usual the service was pretty bad, but they had wifi and cheap flights. Selection isn't as large as the others and many were sold out. Quiet and pleasant, this is a nice break from the norm. |
84 A lovely atmospheric taproom tucked away on Doujiao hutong. The bar is inside a beautifully renovated Qing era courtyard house with seating under large shady oak trees. It really is one of the most impressive spots to drink a beer. Food can be ordered in from neighbouring eateries. The other reviews cover it well. I’ve visited quite a number of times now, in different seasons, and it always proves to be a must visit for a relaxing beer when in Beijing. |
72 Came by on a layover on my way back to Japan. The location was easy to find with Baidu maps (google maps won’t work in China) and is ultra-atmospheric with a large-ish courtyard and cool old building. The crowd was a good mix of locals and expats on a Monday night. No tasters after 7pm which was a let down but the staff knew their products and was friendly enough. OK beer selection with a few guest brews including Baird. More enjoyable than their more modern locations in my book but then again I was there on a busy Thursday as opposed to a chiller Monday night. Only issue is I found their beers to be kind of hit or miss and got the feeling their coasting on their reputation. |
76 Here is a really fun place to visit if you are ever in Beijing. It is great to see that American style craft beer has made it all the way here, even thou it is still very limited in size and scope. There is a comfortable, friendly vibe - the outdoor patio is quite nice when the weather is warm - and it is located down an old hutong in the middle of the city. There are some very fine brews on tap, made locally with local ingredients. |

92 So glad we tracked this place down! A hidden spot in the old alley shopping district of Beijing. Beers ranged from good to great, with a few real outstanding ones (the Belgian dubbel and the stout really stood out for me). Cool dude from Chicago working the bar. This is their original facility but beer is no longer brewed at this location. Really nice outdoor area. Cool t-shirts as well. On Thursdays if you buy a t-shirt your first beer is free. If you are wearing your t-shirt, your second beer is free. Food for delivery is easy - he will call the order in for you (the pizza was quite good and friends raved about the burgers). Only downside is that the place was pretty expensive. The IPA was 45 RMB and the stout was 50 while the pale ale was 25. A must visit if you find yourself in Beijing. |
