Greifenklau

Visited many times.

Nice beergarden in the summer. Food is good. A bit expensive but nevertheless worth visiting. I was a bit surprised finding 0.3l on the menu but it turned out to be just a badly poured 0.5l.

Before the visit, I gathered some information regarding this place. First, a few quite respected guys said, that Greifenklau pils is one of the best you can get anywhere. Second, that a veranda of this place boasts awesome vista to old castle of Bamberg and valley beneath. Regarding the beer, we tried everything these guys had - nothing was of spectacular kind. The view? If you would love to enjoy it, make sure, that Greifenklau will be not the last stop on yours route. We came quite late, it was pitch dark, so it was impossible to see anything. The place itself is neat and clean, but kinda has cold industrial feeling, at least theirs biergarten. Maybe the most satysfing part was a hike into the hilltop to reach the place itself.

First beers of the day taken in the beer garden out the back; Saturday 8th Sep 2018. Two beers on tap with friendly table service. Dunkel came in a glass, the Lager in a stein. Enjoyed both in the mid day sun. Currywurst was good too. Liked the fact it had a stamtisch (nearest table to the serving hatches) for their regulars. Both the internal rooms were shut, so I didn't see what they looked like. The beer garden has a lovely view of Alt Altenburg and countryside.

Located up in the hills with a fantastic view of the castle from the biergarten. Two beers available. Service was friendly and enthusiastic, and the guy spoke English well which is a rarity here. Quite a walk from the city centre but certainly a good option if you have the time.

Up into hills and beer away. Nice 105 years young lady found beers to me. About 1,4€ a bottle. Biergarten im Sommer.

Nice enough place, quite far from the centre, two beers, not bad if you got time.

Traditional place with wooden interieur and a big beer garden. Their beers are good, but nothing too impressive. Fast and uninterested service. Decent place.

Visited October 2011 - Perhaps our favourite brewpub in town. Exceptional beer and a neighbourhood vibe. Can’t ask for more. // Revisited October 2017 - better service, upping my rating.
