60 Great spot. Loved the tour, especially the section with all the ads -some great memories. The Gravity Bar is great due to its fantastic views and it’s enjoyable to have a refreshing pint at the end of the tour. Love going back in again whenever possible |
42 Takes itself far too seriously - I much preferred the Heineken Experience in Amsterdam. Having said that, the view from the Gravity bar is spectacular; and when in Dublin, do as the Irish do and drink Guinness - and this is the place to do it. |
70 You can't come to Dublin without a tour of this place right. 5 or 6 floors of information about the history and how they make Ireland's iconic beverage. Culminating in the gravity bar at the top of it all with spectacular views of the city in all directions. The price of admission includes a ticket for one free drink that you can use in one of several bars on the way up or at the top. There is a restaurant and a cafe and also a huge gift shop. You can pay extra to have a guided tour. There are several brands offered and curiously when I ordered a cider for my wife I had to assure the bartender that she had a gluten allergy or he couldn't serve it to me. I'm not sure what that was about but I played along. The Guinness tastes the same, but it was great sipping on it looking out over the city. I'd do it again. |
70 Visited on a Saturday for the tour. I visited here in 1994, and oh my goodness how this has grown. You enter at ground level, and there are 6 floors of Guinness to visit. If you are interested in the history of Guinness beer, and the marketing of the beer there is a lot to dig into here. If you are just here to have a beer, you can do that in a number of places throughout the building. My two favorites were the pub where you learn to pour your own Guinness, of the top floor Gravity Bar that offers 360 degree views of Dublin. Beer selection is the Guinness range. (Locals should check it out, visitors with extended time) I only use the total score, not the component parts. |
58 Something you certainly have to see, but really the place is just a big lineup. Lineup in the rain to get in the door, then lineup some more for a ticket. Then the whole first floor is a big lineup (though you can skip that part). It's not until a few floors up that you can actually get some beer. Then you get a three sample poor or a pint a couple more floors up. Highlight is the view from the gravity bar, but you can't buy a pint here if you already wasted your ticket. Free samples of new one off pours are on the sample floor. They also do irish dancing shows on the hour. That's probably another cool part of it. The rest is a big commercial for Guinness, only catch is you paid to get advertised to. Great scam for them. Anyway, it's not all bad and still worth it for beer nerds, especially since Guinness is probably what brought many of us into the world of craft beer. For what it's worth, I didn't think the Guinness at the source really tasted that different from other versions. |
64 Well, if you are in Dublin you might as well pop for a visit. Not a bad way to spend about an hour and a half. |
62 If visiting Dublin it's a venue to visit, however I'd not come to Dublin to only visit this. |
46 I enjoyed drinking my pint of Guinness in the Gravity Bar and enjoying the view of Dublin. Probably not worth the ticket price though. The museum was mediocre, interesting in places but often felt like a string of marketing promos. Didn’t try the food — the Brasserie closes a couple hours before the bar, at about 6 as I recall, which seems like an odd time for a restaurant to close. Service was average. Would not go back. |
68 A Tourist trap with a capital, but it's entertaining. What would Dublin be without it. In particular the film about barrel making is impressive, and its a brewery what else can I say. Glad I came there before the crowd came in. Staff is friendly. |
64 Apparently the most visited tourist attraction in Dublin, so obviously very hyped, crowded and commercial. Authentic industrial atmosphere. Many different bars and food-places. A great view on the top bar. Only beers from St. James's Gate. A bit pricy... |
