Gunmakers

Multi-roomed pub including an enclosed garden area at its rear, this traditional looking pub with modern touches inside is just north of the Clerkenwell Road at its western end. There’s only three cask with nothing too exciting on the small bar in the front room, but I found a bottle of cider in the fridges I’d never come across before. Had a 20 something crowd in on a Friday afternoon.

Visited here a few times but not for a while. Small pub with several rooms. bar at the front has 3 handpulls on, generally local brews that are well kept but are a little more expensive than average. There’s a focus on food and the place can get busy. It’s OK but far better places in Clerkenwell nearby.

A small, very modern place (recently refurbished) with a small patio at the back. There were just three hand pumps in use when we were there. The service was friendly. Incidentally, there’s now a hairdresser’s upstairs and they have their price list on the bar in case you feel in need of a trim. (Visited 15 April 2015).

Fairly standard pub - light, clean, modern interior. Three cask ales on - nothing to get a ticker’s juices flowing. Small patio area out the back.

I visited The Gunmakers on Thursday 30th October 2014. Yet another one of those pubs that I had somehow managed to miss hmeven though I always knew it was barely a 2-3 min walk from Craft, Clerkenwell. Beer choice was limited but appeared decent I had a half of Castle Rock Pumkin Porter which was in pretty good nick and served in a cute half pint dimpled mug. I overheard the young barman explaining to someone over the phone that they had taken over the place quite recently (1st October, I believe he said) so having never been here before I am unsure if the beer choice is better ir worse, though a chalkboard that announces *new* beers such as Guinness and Peroni may suggest it is dumbing down the beer menu, though I noted that Brewdog Dead Pony Club looked to be on as a permanent keg (Loz would be happy) it is another pub that is situated just a short distance away from the hustle and bustle, Small frontage and with bar on LH side immediately as you enter. I never explored the place but I guess it went back a bit. Pleasant, tidy place, certainly worth a quickie on a crawl of the area.

A charming little two-roomed cornerpub in the Clerkenwell area, a short walk from the Craft Beer Co. It’s a freehouse with six hand pumps, one of them for cider. I had three cask ales from the Portobello microbrewery, all of them in tip top condition and served at the very right drinking temperature. For lunch I had a tasty dish called Ham, Egg, Fries which was one of five food options. Friendly service with Stonch hanging around. Music free and relaxing. A good banter! (Visited 23.09.2014).

Visited in August 2014, with beery friends :-). After a long walk this little cosy place turned up ( I spotted it, while the guys were discussing where to go ).. A small, but very cosy pub, beers and the perry were served in good condition, very friendly staff, who knew their stuff of the beers. In the back a nice little beergarden, I really loved this place, maybe because I spotted it ;-)..

Cozy English pub with a tiny bar and. Nice rear patio. Service was friendly and a few casks to keep you happy. Prices are good. A great quiet local in a busy part of town.

little nice pub. not a large selection, but the service is good. the food is simple but tasty!

Mostly an alright place. Not very many taps, seven I think. Hurried service but was crowded. Food looks good, a bit on the pricey side I suppose, but pretty nice.
