Half Door is a recent entry to San Diego's magnificent beer scene. Located in a regular two-story clapboard house, a few blocks east of the touristy GasLight District, this place is a sheer delight. First, the building itself: an inviting house with a large terrace for outdoor dining and drinking and an upstairs balcony for the same. Inside, there is a well-polished bar amid a woody Victorian décor and bric-a-brac - and, of course, there is an actual half-door. There are about a dozen house beers along with a few guest, such as Monkey's Paw. The beers are very good (I heartily recommend the Coleman Dry Stout). Excellent service and a menu loaded with delicious food (I recommend the sausage mac-n-cheese.) Half-Door should be included in any Gaslight/East Village crawl - it is a few blocks from Mission Brewery, another great venue that I have reviewed recently. Hey, check them both out! UPDATE: Returned for lunch during a November 2019 visit. Still a great place with delicious food - I had the Pork Belly hash, this time.

Found this great brewpub on rate beer wandering in the gas lamp quarter. Liked it so much went back for dinner the next day. Staff shirts say “ where the west coast meets the Emerald Isle “. The beers are good to excellent the food is solid the staff are really very engaging. It’s a low key feel, really great place to have a few.

2 story house near the baseball stadium in SD. Not as many taps as other places I visited, but it had a local feel like I found a hidden gem. Beers and food were good.

Housed in an elegant old two-story building with a large balcony and a porch, very near to the stadium, a great place to visit. We visited on an early Sunday evening, and enjoyed the atmosphere, the food and the place in general, very much. They had 19 of their beers on tap, and flights of 3 to 6 were available. The beers were good, some more remarkable, although nothing that stunned me. I liked the place very much and hope to visit again.

The building is awesome, an old Victorian house with lots of character, loads of nooks and crannies to get lost and have a beer in, and it's literal blocks from the Stadium and Gaslamp areas. Service was good, kind and knowledgeable, on cocktails and beer. Selection veered towards the new school haze bombs, but there was a stout, amber, and some Belgian styles on tap as well. Food was great, but all I had was an app. A little pricey, but to be expected in the area its at. Definitely worth a stop if in downtown San Diego.

Old wood house building from 1904, awesome 1st floor terrasse with a overlook to the stadium. Big bar as you enter, 16 tap's of house beer, IPA heavy, but other styles aswell. Flights avaible. Quality of beers pretty good. Good service and fine prices. Would visit again.

Came here on 19.4.2018. Brewpub in an old wooden house very close to Petco Park with a nice view into the stadium. Bar in the first floor, restaurant on the second floor and brewhouse next by. Liked the beers I had: House of Hops IPA and a Tea Leaves Grisette. They have 17 beers on tap (many different styles). Food was decent. Nice addition to SD‘s beer scene, especially as is in downtown.

Visited on a Sunday afternoon in February 2018. A charming place located in an old wood house. Good and friendly service and with some tasty beers. (I didn't ask about flights) The loacation was good in central SD. Would visit again in visiting SD in the future.

An old converted house with a very charming interior, with various sectioned off rooms. A dozen beers on tap, with a heavy focus on IPAs. Beer quality was excellent - I enjoyed all 8 beers I had - impressive. Flights available and reasonaby priced. Would definitely recommend a visit here.
