Hoogeberg Breweries

The brewery here is a little bit of an afterthought, as it is mainly a winery and game ranch associated with some beer for the occasional traveler. But it is a beautiful estate and a ridiculously nice restaurant and space. The brewery itself is sparse, with plastic fermenters and a cobbled together system. But, the beers they were making with what they had were fairly impressive considering, nothing amazing, but nothing terribly bad either; typical South African styles: lager, brown, weisse, pale, etc. Service was amazing, freindly, knew the beer really well and excited to get you to try it. Food was very good as well. I think it's a bit of a destination, but if you make it out you won't be dissapointed, as I think they are trying to grow this brand and they're putting a lot of time behind it right now. A plus, the spritzer cocktail you get when you arrive!
