This place is on the corner. I parked by McDonalds, but I was told they tow you here. This place has a small parking lot with short brick wall and metal fence gates, but I had to ask where it is. Cool open atmosphere with medium size straight bar in the middle of one side. Bartender was our waiter, but service was good, even know they were busy. Tap beer selection was nice locals. Meat lovers pizza was quite good (thin crust). Pricing was going rate toward higher. Worth the trip just for the pizza.

Got here right as they opened on Sunday morning on my last day in Baltimore for the year. For a minute or two I was the only one here aside from the staff, but it did pick up rather quickly. Seems to be more of a locals hangout than a beer tourist destination per se, especially as it’s not really near a lot of the other beer venues that one might wish to visit. I had initially come because Union Craft Brewing had recently opened and a slightly outdated tap list on beermenus had one of their beers listed here. Unfortunately that had kicked days earlier but I enjoyed a few Dale’s Pale instead. Tap list is not huge, six beers if I recall correctly. Ordered the flag pizza which was excellent. Staff here was great. Super friendly, happy to chat about everything when it was slow, and when it picked up, they were still attentive and quick. Hadn’t really planned on coming here when I made my itinerary for the weekend, but I definitely plan on coming back now.

(Visited 01/2011): Joe Squared is located on the north side of Baltimore on North Ave right off I-83. Metered parking is available right in front of the establishment. The interior includes a bar on the left side and booth seating on the right. There is cool artwork on the walls and a stage. Not sure if this qualifies under "atmosphere notes" but at one point their speaker system intercepted a trucker on CB radio talking about a Chinese prostitute. Joe Squared has 5 beers on tap and around 60 in bottles. Draught options include Dogfish Head, Flying Dog and Chimay. As for bottles there are a few domestic micros from Sierra Nevada, Oskar Blues, Ommegang, Lagunitas and others. Many more imports from Belgium (Duvel, Brouwerij Van Steenberge), and the UK primarily but they carry a couple beers from a lot of other countries. Service on a slow weekday afternoon was good. The bartender was friendly and knowledgeable about their beers. We did not have any food on our visit but apparently this place is known for their pizza, so next time. Overall this is a nice low key beer spot that I would recommend visiting in Baltimore.
