Nice location, good line up of beers on tap, including very substantial flights.

Sadly a bit remote for even the locals of this town, but in return it has an interesting scenery in the industrial area. The bar itself is also modern industrially styled, but still keeps a warm atmosphere. Well done. Not all taps were filled when I visited, this was a bit disappointing. I hope to visit again to update my comments. (Visited 2015/09/17). // (2018/10/12). Still no contactloos betalen.

Visited September 2015 with beery friends. Placed in an industrial area a bit tricky to get to, need to take the train from he city center. Was challenged a bit in buying beers, since you need a Dutch creditcard.. Luckily one of the guys had one :-) Fine selection of their beers, served in good condition. Friendly and helpfull staff.

Was there at the opening party. Nice looking place which uses old shipping containers and wood to create a nice industrial/maritime ambiace which fits the area. They had a nice selection of 20 taps, with decent prices. Downsides are it’s in a bit of a remote location with nothing else of interest in the evening within any reasonable range. It’s not too far from Voorburg trainstation though. Food is limited, just burgers usually, and no vegan stuff. That’s not really hip, people. Have been a few times since, and the above still stands. The main downside are the HUGE lines when it’s busy. If there’s three people behind the bar but only one (1!) cardreader and you can’t pay cash that’s sure to cause frustration all around.

Update because of other reviews: it’s NOT that hard to reach by public transport, the place is walking distance (1km) of Voorburg trainstation.

A big place with scrap yard feel, rusty containers are the main design feature. otherwise the place has a cheerfull ambiance and the service really friendly, very good tap selection, focused mainly on their offerings but with some interesting guest taps. Payment is by card only. acess by public transport is a bit diifucult, but if you are the walking type it is not that difficult to reach. Highly recomended.

We visited Kompaan on Sunday 2nd October 2016. It had been a truly miserable day weather wise, furthermore the journey here whilst relatively straightforward from the centre was hampered towards the end by roadworks which made trying to get to where you needed to hard work. It’s sort of south east from the centre, we cycled and stopped at a supermarket en route, but if we were walking it’s about 2 to 3km (nearer 3km) so a good 30 minutes walk. The site is located by a canal basin, I guess in the summer it would be quite nice sat out by the waters edge.

Kompaan is one of the new breed of Brewery Taps, it’s housed on a rather plain industrial estate and being a Sunday everything else around here was quite dead. Inside it is quite a size, certainly bigger than I expected. As you enter the bar is immediately ahead on the RH side with some seating immediately above and further seating on a raised area off to the LH side. There is even more seating at the rear both at ground level and in a raised section. I guess the unique selling point for this bar is the rather clever use of old shipping containers. The bar has been fashioned out of one, i.e. front of the bar and the tap dispense and the seating areas above the bar and at the rear of the building, kitchen, toilets are all old red shipping containers, it certainly looks good and works well. The rest of the look is quite minimalist with plenty of bare concrete, there is a large central sky light section above which let’s in quite a bit of natural light. The brewery equipment can be seen though a glass/perspex wall off to the LH side.

The beer choice here was very good. I think that there were twenty one taps with about ten given over to their own beers of which most were core range with one or two specials. The rest of the beers featured Wild Beer Co Sleeping Lemons, North Coast Le Mercle, Neoboski Sooty Otter, Nowhere Brew Tropical Disease. Payment is card only but further to Ruth posting below about payment the important thing for non nationals was that Mastercard was accepted I presume from this other foreign cards would also be accepted. There was food available such as Pulled Pork, Brisket, Veg options, Cheese plate etc. Prices were very good. The service was also very good, the barman sporting a great beard surely a compulsory requirement now if you are in anyway involved in the Craft Beer setting. We really liked it here and stayed for a couple. It’s well worth the cycle or walk from the centre.

Finally got a chance to go here on a Sunday aftertnoon/evening. Really spartan atmosphere with concrete floors and old shipping containers. Breathes industrial, but in a nice way. 20 taps mounted on an old shipping container which is really cool. Inside are two stories where you can sit and order some food at the bar. Staff in knowledgeable and very friendly. Had a good chat with Daan, awesome guy. Only downside is is that the location is hard to get too. Either a long ride on the bicycle or a long walk from the neirest public transport. Certainly worth your time and effort.

The place has a very cool industrial look. The bar is made of old containers, so is the toilet and the kitchen. The ambiance is comparable to Kaapse Brouwers in Rotterdam, which has the same industrial look. The bartender is really kind and is happy to tell about the beers. The pace has a terrace by the water, with a look on some industries going on. The place is very nice and serves some great bees. A pitty it isn’t reachable by public transportation, so there always has to be s driver that can’t drink.
