Lancaster Hop Hog IPA | 7% | 6/11/2021 |
70 Medium size space, rustic diner decour; 13 beers on tap, flights available, no WiFi, beer is average; decent burgers |
96 As I am a fan of the Lancaster location, I couldn’t be happier that the Harrisburg location is just down the road from me. always great food and service (especially from Bob the bartender). |
66 Large modern place. Restaurant is up front, you have to turn left and go to the end of the building to get to the bar. Seven regular beers plus two seasonals. All were heavily filtered but tasty enough. Snacks were limited, standard pub fare. |
54 Spent many evenings here as close to the Marriott. Beers are mediocre, the milk stout is my favorite, burgers good. |
60 Located off of the interstate surrounded by failry plentiful parking Looks like an Applebee’s type place if they had an unlimited supply of eggplant paint. They had 9-10 on draft but the beers look pretty fixed based on the fact that the beer menu was laminated and hadn’t been updated in years. The bar and restaurant have separate entrances for some reason. The beers are solid but not amazing. Service was decent but I didnt see any demonstrations of beer knowledge. BTW the 10 beer 5 ounce samplers are stupiidly insane. Pretty run of the mill brewpub. |
64 Restaurant type setup and feel with adjoining bar area (we came for lunch). Service was friendly, attentive and knowledgable. Selection is good - all of their year-round choices + 3 seasonals. Food was okay... our party had a variety and whereas no one was disappointed, no one was thrilled either. Pricing was fair -- 20oz pints helps. I wouldn’t make a special trip to visit, but would stop in while visiting other places in Harrisburg area. |
74 Wife and I stop here for a quick beer after dinner nearby. Sat at a well lit bar, festive crowd for a monday. Bar tender was attentive but not overbearing. 8 beera on tap tonight served in proper pint glass (wish my pils was served in a pilsen glass). Over all good stop, would surely return. |
70 The Milk Stoudt makes the less than attentive staff bare able. |
64 Sort of a dreary place on a Sunday evening, very dark and subdued. Bartender was emotionless yet too awkward to be considered simply businesslike, though not problematic at the end of the day. Selection was generally standard brewpub stuff, but certainly a step above a color-spectrum brewpub. BBQ chicken pizza was sort of odd, overly doughy and underly cheesy/chickeny, though the BBQ sauce itself was tasty, with a nice sweet tanginess. Would be curious to know how that translates to the higher-priced entrees on the menu, seemingly aiming for a higher quality than expected in a brewery. Alas, I’ll have to wait to answer. Overall, just wasn’t feeling the vibe. |
72 This place was fairly empty on a Sunday evening. A sports-bar/restaurant set up tuned to the football game. The bartender was a bit awkward, although friendly. There were maybe 6 or so regular taps plus 2 seasonals. I tried the milk stout and IPA, the former was average and the latter was pretty good. I split a pizza for dinner and it was quite tasty. Overall, a good stop although the atmosphere was a bit off-putting. |
