Le Vaudrée

Great place i used to visit in the 90's...it still has a fantastic seletion on...

Le Vaudrée a été une des premières places où on buvait de la bière de tous les horizons. Même, au départ, on ne servait que de la bière et pas encore de restauration et ... cela sentait vraiment la bière (et pas la frite!). Actuellement, la concurrence est rude et l’établissement a l’air en perte de vitesse même si l’ambiance et le service sont toujours là. Dommage mais, à part les trappistes et quelques hollandaises peu de bières étrangères (et pas de bières du continent américain) : à ses heures de gloire, le Vaudrée proposait déjà des bières asiatiques etc.

Visited this place on a friday afternoon - it is legendary, food and beer are great. However it is in the suburbs right next to the railway tracks. Inside the ambience is more bistro than bierkeller, staff were attentive, there is a beer menu (60+pages) which non french speakers (even non liegoise French speakers may need) overall im impressed with this little place.

We were the only customers on a cold Sunday afternoon, it wasn’t clean; or tidy, in fact it was shabby. Over 20 beers were supposed to be on tap, there were less than 10 actually available, which is still good I suppose. The bottle list is huge, but as I ploughed through looking for new beers, they either didn’t have them or they came in bottles so out of date that I couldn’t tell if they tasted correctly or not. I was very disappointed with the whole place, it had been built up as somewhere fantastic and I was really looking forward to giving it a go.

I loved this place when I was here, got shown this spot by a local when the train was delayed. I ended up staying most of the night!

Nice little bar/resturant with a decent selection of great/good belgian beers and proper glassware. Loved being able to go to the beer cellar and pick a beer, like a walk-in humidor.

Stopped by on the way home from ZBF this weekend. Had a decent selection I suppose but I was fairly disappointed in their lack of anything truly special, especially considering I had just visited the Kulminator the night before. Food was decent, price reflected the quality. I’ll stop by again if I’m in the area for sure.

Seems to be the only beerbar in Liege(luik). Does not have many beers on stock for 5 beers of my choice where answered with a "sorry don’t have it today" comment. But had a few nice not to common beers. So satisfaction was reached.
