82 Restaurant with a really good beer selection. They have an awesome draft selection and some weird bottles (things you don’t normally see in a restaurant). The menu is all about grilled cheese. Killer food and great beer. Gets really crowded around meal time so you can have beer while you wait or walk a block to Rozi’s and look at more beer. |
84 Came here for the Food, featured on food network, great sandwiches! beer list surprised me, cool taps and great service! |
86 Excellent menu and food. Prices were very reasonable. When I saw the total I had to check and make sure everything was added to the check. The service was not the best. We had to wait for beers and asked for some additional items that were not brought to the table. The beer list was not huge but had a nice selection and I was able to find great beers with no problem. I will definately return to this establishment. |
86 Ambiance is just awesome, lots of sports memorabilia, as well as all kinds of tacky holiday decorations. Service, was ok but nothing special. Selection is not huge, but big enoguh tap and bottle list, and have a decent amount of solid stuff. Food is just amazing period. The monte cristo and lasagna grilled cheese are both the best grilled cheeses ive ever had. Food and beer also very cheap. Overall, certainly worth the trip and the wait. Go here! |
72 I visited this place on a recent trip to Ohio. I showed up at 3pm on a Tuesday and waited about 45 min for a table, which wasn’t bad, the place is understandably busy and it is a pretty small place. The menu is very extensive and imaginative, the portions are very large, and the food was excellent. I had the Rising Sun which was delicious as was the cole slaw that came with it. The beer selection was decent, I’ve seen a lot better but, I was easily able to find something to drink. Great place overall. |
42 food was great when we got it:( waited for over an hour for table finaly got table and waited another 30 to place order. saw waitress one other time 30 minutes later and asked how food was? what food? oppps forgot to put order in. |
90 When I visited: May 2012.
What I had: Victory Throwback Lager (draught), 21st Amendment Back In Black IPA (can), Three Floyds Alpha King (draught), Peanut Butter & Banana Grilled Cream Cheese Sandwich, Hot Italian Sandwich, soup of the day, coleslaw, fries, wine and cocktail for my better half.
What I liked: approachable downmarket atmosphere, crowd minds their own, cool signs and memorabilia on the walls, redonkulous sammies, excellent taps, a few rarities in bottles/cans, waiter made great food recos, dirt cheap prices ($40 for everything we had).
What I disliked: Guinness and two ciders detract from an otherwise perfect draught list, but that’s a minor quibble.
Would I go back? Absolutely.

68 Went to this place on a saturday night, arrived around 6:30. We were informed by the host that we had an hour wait for a table. While waiting we made it to the bar for some beers. Had a nice selection on tap. Did not look at how many bottles, the tap selection was good. My wife had a few rodenbachs while I had a few troegs pales. We finallly got seated around 7:45. We promptly ordered our sandwiches and another round of brews. The beer was delivered quickly, the food was another story. We easily sat for another hour before our food arrived. The food was tasty and filling, but not worth spending over 2 hours waiting for. Granted it was a sat night, but I have never waited this long anywhere else during peek times. If you go, hit it when it is not prime time.

84 (Visited 03/2011): This location of Melt is in Lakewood on Detroit Ave north of I-90. Street parking is available in the surrounding area.
The interior is comfy, made more so by the seemingly endless crowds trying to get in. The bar is on the right side after weaving through tightly packed tables. We were quoted a 2+ hour wait but thanks to my friend being on crutches we were able to get a couple sympathy seats at the bar pretty quickly. Cool blue tin ceiling with hanging star-shaped lights. Precarious journey downstairs to the restrooms.
The beer selection is solid, with around 20 taps with beers from Rooster Fish, DFH, Bells, Southern Tier and Stone. The bottled selection exceeds 100 with many NE Ohio brewers represented such as Hoppin’ Frog, GLBC, Thirsty Dog etc. Other craft brewers such as Rogue, Stone, and the like, plus a good amount of imports.
Service was about as good as could be expected given how busy it was. With all the production around the challenge the bartender did a good job with refills and beer knowledge.
Food is the main draw at Melt, and they deliver in spades. My friend took the Melt Challenge and didn’t make it 1/3 of the way through, but he got 3 delicious meals out of the deal. My sandwich was excellent as well.
Overall this place is pretty amazing although I would recommend going at an off time. |
