86 We came here on 27.11.2021. Great location directly on the Chicago river with a fantastic outside patio. Brewery exists since 2009 and moved here 4 years ago. The whole complex has other bars, coffee shops and restaurants. Really cool! Large U-shaped bar and great beers, mainly lagers (no IPAs). That’s a place I could stay the whole afternoon. Had my first Nitro tapped lager beer, amazingly good. Another highlight was a Nitro tapped Kölsch with infused coffee. Very good music and super friendly service. |
70 Stark secretive looking place off the beaten path in Chicago. Once you get to the taproom it's nice looking yet spartan with plenty of room inside and out. Very busy when I visited but still not hard to get a beer. Be ready for low ABV German styles if you come here, that's all they have but they are well made. Different from other Chicago breweries I have visited. Worth a stop if you have enough time to visit a lot of places. |
86 Basically, you visit the brewery. People are great and generous with their pours. Informative and fun. for people digging the process, visit this hidden gem of a brewer. |
84 Great tour and a great tasting. Very friendly. Tour is small enough to get your questions answered and they’re glad to talk with you afterwards. Very neat space too. It would be nice if they got a tasting room built though. |
78 Very nice people, excellent beers that don’t taste like everyone else in the region. Krankshaft is still one of the best kölsch-style beers that I’ve had, even after visiting Köln. It’s amazing to see how hard they work to put out a quality product. If you have the chance to set up a tour, don’t pass it up. |
56 Pretty solid brewer of non-traditional lagers. The brewery is set in an old auto repair shop, conncted to a distillery (Koval). They do the occasional tour, but nothing particularly exciting. |
86 If you’re in Chicago and want to visit the coolest industrial microbrewery in the city, then you need to contact Doug and Tracy at Metropolitan Brewing!! They offer occasional tours, and you definitely need to go check them out. Brewing quality German-style beers, this husband and wife team (and Star Trek geeks) have got themselves a real gem of an operation here. Unfortunately they can’t do off-premise sales, but they’ll give you a few samples, and you can buy a glass or t-shirt to help them out. This was definitely our favorite stop in town. (Brewery #515). |
