Monkeypod Kitchen

Cool gastropub in Wailea. It's a fairly large restaurant, but gets packed at the dinner hours. I didn't have much trouble getting a seat at the bar though. The tap list is probably the best in the area. They have numerous styles with mostly HI beers. They have tasty cocktails too. The food menu is great, focus on local, fresh cuisine. I had mahi mahi tacos and one of their pizzas, which were excellent. A little pricey, but not crazy compared to other similar caliber restaurants in the area. Overall, a great place not to be missed, good beer selection and great food.

Classy restaurant upstairs in a strip mall, as so many places in Hawaii seem to be. Parking was a bit tight. Place was jam packed on a Saturday night but I got the last seat facing the open kitchen so I got to watch the pizza guy using the wood fired oven and the pastry chef finish the cream pies. Food selection covers many cuisines. Very tasty but very pricey even by Hawaiian standards - I had a smallish pice of fish and some white rice for $40. Dessert was limited to the aforementioned cream pies and ice cream. Service was OK, slightly brusque at the end as I lingered over my dessert beer - they needed the barstool apparently. Beer list was large (36 taps) but pretty much all flagships. Still, at least there weren't many InBev products. The time to come here is happy hour when the pizzas are $9 (down from $18) and the apps are half price (but still pretty pricey).

Best place in Wailea/Kihei. 36 good taps. Modern Times, Stone, Racer 5 etc. Amazing food. Highly suggest fish sandwich, hawaii green salad, turkey burger. Fantastic service.
