88 Nice outdoor seating area in a remarkably quiet corner of downtown Portland. Beer selection is absolutely world class. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Certainly worth a visit. |
74 Medium size place, pub decour; eclectic tap list, good wifi, no flights, but half pours available, small food menu available |
84 Seemingly underground bar in Old Port that has a great selection of local, out of state and foreign beer. Service is pretty good and that beer is priced decently. A must-stop in Portland. |

90 Super cool place. We did not eat here. Great beer selection. Friendly staff. Nice eclectic selection. Got some bissell. |
86 Monday Afternoon for one beer with John, Anne and Patty when they 1st opened. Great service from friendly bartender. Nice cool relaxing place. Interesting to find being off teh main street. We had a good Bissell beer in Bissell glassware. Good time. |
92 Among the best beer bars out there. The staff were very friendly, the beers were clearly cared for. Nice glassware, great tap list and massive bottle list. If I lived in Portland ME, this is where I'd hang out. |
92 An excellent bar. Indoors, it's like a European cellar bar. Lots of beery ephemera pasted on the walls and what not, with a seeming emphasis towards Belgian stuff. Outside, there is a fetching and reasonably large patio, which is quite nice. There is table service inside and out. The beer selection is outstanding. The tap list has a strong tilt towards local/Maine breweries. So if you don't have the time to visit the many breweries in the area, this is an efficient way to try their beers. The bottle selection is extensive, with a ton of Belgian stuff, along with lots of aging-appropriate offerings from Maine producers like Allagash and Liquid Riot. The prices for draft beers are pretty reasonable. For the bottles, the prices can range a bit, but there are still some decent value options. The staff was friendly. The food was quite good. Overall, this is a superb bar that really executes on all fronts. A must-visit if you are visiting Portland. |
84 Another world class establishment (by ratings) in the northeast. Its hidden down an alley, but there is a fairly obvious sign pointing the way, so its not like its hard to find. Doing a brisk business at about 9PM on a Thursday. Outside seating area as well as an indoor basement area. Cozy is a good word for it. Loads of wood, barrels for tables as well as some long communal ones, long bar. Taplist was pretty IPA centric and did not really have anything that got me too excited. Perhaps I just picked a bad day. They had a pretty extensive bottle list that would have really got me interested a few years ago; now i am jaded and have tried practically everything. They had about three new (to me) Maine Beer Co. bottles on the board, but all of the new ones were sold out unfortunately. I had a beer here and would certainly call it a high quality destination, but I left feeling a bit underwhelmed as compared to the hype. |
