 76 We visited here Saturday 8th June 2019, the we being me, Loz, Bob and Claire (Bob was celebrating his 50th birthday in Amsterdam). Oedipus is located north of the t'IJ, you take the river taxi/ferry *You can use either but the one to Ijplein whilst less frequent leaves a slightly shorter walk. It's about 15-20 minutes walk, once you are over this side. The brewery and tap is in a sort of industrial area, it's got quite a lot of residential property close by though. Inside I was reminded of a childrens tv programme, not unlike the set of Playschool for UK raters and viewers of a certain age. There was some seating outside, however the weather was somewhat changeable so we opted to go indoors. It's a roomy place with quite a bit of seating, there were about 30-40 folk in here including a large group of Germans who thought it would be funny to sing/goad someone from the brewery to react when they started chanting about Heineken *only a few days before Heineken had taken a significant stake in Oedipus. Beer choice was wide ranging and when you take into account the bottles in the fridge, there was a lot to choose from. We also had some of the cheesy chips which were great. I liked it here, however Walhalla around the corner is a more intimate place and better beer. |
 80 Vibrant, large and lively taproom away from the centre of Amsterdam yet no problem for the discerning drinker to find. Visited on 22nd March 2019. Outdoor area packed as it was a warm Friday evening. Service has the appearance of being less organised than it actually is, with food orders going onto a stacking system when large volumes of orders are placed at the bar. A variety of seating and chill out zones are to be found in this split level venue, Beer is excellent as anyone who has sampled Oedipus elsewhere should expect, and the food, although focused mainly on burger and fries variants, is fabulous and worth trying. I would happily return. |

 64 Visited on a friday afternoon, while a small bluehaired girl was cleaning the brewery. Somewhat indifferent service, but I got the beer I wanted, and for a Amsterdam-decent price. Close to Walhalla. Worth the small boat trip, and the short walk. |
