80 Finally made it here. Took way too long since I am in this general area decently often. I guess I'm just always trying to get home or to another site when I'm over this way.
Anyway, in the Jack London area and actually very close to two other breweries (Oakland United and Buck Wild), plus Crooked City Cider is just up the street, as was Beer Rev (RIP). Big warehouse space with a small patio outfront and plenty of seating inside. Big bar where you order with a few of the brewhouse.
They had 14 drafts going during my visit and you can do flights of 6, individual tasters, and full pours. It seems like they're canning pretty much every beer they make these days, too. Beer quality is generally pretty good, especially the hoppy stuff I've had from them. Pricing is pretty decent for the Bay Area, too.
Service was very friendly and helpful and they make quick work of any line that forms.
Feel like I've kind of slept on these guys for awhile and they are actually one of the better options in the Bay Area. |
62 Located in south Oakland, close to Chinatown, many other breweries, and in a very industrial area, this is a cool little tasting room with plenty of patio space, much of which looks like a Covid extension. When I visited, they had 9-10 taps, with a preset flights of 6 available for about $16 after tax. I'm not liking these preset flights that a bunch of breweries are doing around here, but at least most of the selection were more interesting styles. Most beers were pretty middling though, with the coffee porter being a standout. Very friendly service. All in all, a pleasant stop, but just another standard brewery that's not worth much fuss. |
84 Just wow there beers a fantastic.. and there staff are great too... |
80 Wonderful brewery to drop by after a 50 mile bike ride to Oakland. Approximately 20 beers on tap plus cans for sale. Excellent beers overall. Tried a sour, hazy IPA, Pilsner, imperial stout. Very good. |
80 Stopped in on my way up to Rare Barrel. This is in the industrial area near 880. Good news is that there is actually quite a bit of street parking, and it is in fact free. I walked a block or two, but well worth free. The place itself has a small outdoor patio out front. Inside they had a place set up for roving food vendors; it was a very popular gyoza/potstickers place when I was there. further back is the smallish and quite busy bar area. Tables of various size and a high bar under the tap list wall. Perhaps a dozen beers on tap, more I think - 14? IPA heavy which has certainly become the norm, but they had a smattering of other things including a Tripel and a couple of lagers. Flights of six available for $15(!). Of course the beer whore in me took control and I did a flight. Kinda glad I did though, cause the beer was actually quite good. Well above average quality wise, including a couple of standouts. Good service, clean bathrooms. A place to watch for sure. I have seen their cans around, but not in the places I usually shop at. |
