88 We stopped in early on a Saturday afternoon so the place was fairly empty. Just a few other patrons at the bar. A cozy, well maintained tavern with hints of dive among the comfortable feel. The beer list is rather extensive for a local tavern with some really interesting and varied beers on- not just IPAs, which was nice. Had a cask bitter and a sour on my visit. Service was quick and friendly. We played a couple games of pinball and enjoyed the beers inside a comfortable neighborhood tavern. I can't think of a better way to drink beers. |
80 Service started out horribly slow but picked up. Food is mediocre/good. But they have a great selection of beer |
88 Great place, especially if you happen to be there monday when they have a Randall. Good selection of beers of which one is cask |
100 I’ve been drinking here for years. I spent my 21st here and never left. The beautiful wood work along with historic tacoma pictures beer posters, you name it. Then there are the rafters adorned in what I would guess to be over one thousand tap handles. The staff is one of the friendliest in tacoma and full of a wealth of beer knowledge to keep you up to date on their ever revolving 31 beers on tap not to mention a hardy wine selection. The food is perfect. Nothing over the top here. Just a perfect balance of what you’d expect to find in a tavern. From burgers and cheese steaks to salad and soup all of it cooked to perfection. The house made clam chowder is a treat if you can snag some before its gone. Everything is well priced for drinks you otherwise wouldn’t be able to get a hold of. Lest we forget the brand new board displaying every price, %abv, etc. The events, can’t forget the events. Having recently had its 79th anniversary, every event is heaven for every type of beer drinker. I’ve traveled the world drinking in new bars from Italy to Dubai to South Korea and I always come home to the parkway. Hopefully there’s another hundred years in store...

94 The Parkway is like the off broadway of beer. New brews often come here first, to see if people like them, before they are sold into the hyper-competitive Seattle market. And, the list is superb, varying with season. Don’t forget the Monday Randall. Sean always serves up a great one. Service is excellent. Menu is limited to burgers and salads, but reasonably priced. A tip: order a double burger (beef, salmon, veggie) and it’s about $2-3 more than a single. |
86 Easy to see why this place is #1 in Tacoma. Cool neighborhood ambiance, feels welcoming and unpretentious. Super-friendly staff, free samples and good recommendations. Selection is very good, I was impressed with their tap choices (some rare beers!). No liquor, only wine & beer. Value is very good, most pints $4 during happy hour. Overall, a chill spot with tvs, shuffleboard, comfortable chairs on the front lawn, and a great tap selection. |
82 Dropped in herr during a Stone Total Tap Takeover (which is always a fun time). Looks kind of strange dropped into the middle of a very residential looking area, but I kind of liked that. Sort of a multiroomed boozer with different levels of rowdiness, depending on where you are. I kind of dug the small outdoor patio with people casually chatting away. The front bar was kind of a college hangout. Although it was loud in here, I like that they don’t jack the music up so you can actually hear what people are saying to you. In back is a nice looking games room and a few other quieter rooms as well. Bar staff were friendly and efficient. It’s got a great vibe and I would love to have soent more time here. |
84 Here for the tapping of Pliny the Younger, so my experience was obviously not standard. The ambiance is fantastic, the service is excellent and personable, the taplist is very good (tonight especially with tappings of DfH 120 Minute & Noble Rot, Elder, and Younger), and very reasonably priced. Not only that, but the bar gave away its entire keg of Younger for free! Would definitely go back next time I’m ever in Tacoma. Highly recommended. |
86 I have been going to The Parkway for quite sometime, especially since I moved to Tacoma from Firestone country. The selection ranges from excpetional to good at times. Service is usuallyvery good, sometimes the markup on a handle is a little much. Food is usually good. Ambiance is good. My only issue is that they do not keep enough Belgians on draft and it seems to hop centric. They have fantastic brewers nights and festivals! A must stop in Tacoma and one of the best beer bars in the state. |
90 Holy cow batman this is the place. great taps great food and awesome atmosphere. A must stop for any beer geek. They have special all the time and run great taps every day. Come down check out the firkin or the randall. They have it all. Parking can be tight. |
