Porter Pub (Khreschatyk)

On the block next to Ukraine Hotel. They brew their own ales. If the dark is on tap, it is the best choice.

Porter Pub has several establishments, this is the most central one meaning very close to Maidan & Khreschatyk Street. Dark underground bar, visited early in the day. Very uninteresting staff, got the impression that they basically wanted us out the place, staff paying zero attention to us, very slow and indifferent service, halfway cleaning seemingly. Okay prices. They listed about 10 beers in their menu but only 4 were available upon visiting. Tried 2, quality was very poor, one of them tasted like the other one with added chemicals. Unpleasant place for me seemed like it appeals to the local youth maybe they are popular enough to snub people or they hate foreigners. No idea, disliked this place, total pass unless if you are really desperate for ticks. Klaipeda is very nearby and has interesting Lithuanian beer & decent service, nice looking interior.

Part of a big chain of pubs, 4 of which have breweries on site. Although main beers are the same, each pub with the brewery has it’s own brewer, so ultimately you get a bit different beers. All places are targeted at rock oriented youngsters. 4 taps. Dark ale is a highlight.
