Rod’s Liquor

I’ve driven by this maybe a hundred times and only recently had the inclination to go in. This is on Chapman right on the edge of the circle. It’s a small unassuming liquor store with a couple of parking spaces in front. Inside there is the usual selection of snacks, liquor, wine, and a couple of fridges of beer. I applaud the owner for carrying some interesting stuff like Russian River and Ballast Point but the selection isn’t all that large. One door has the usual malt liquor and macro selection. The other two have better beers, just not a lot of them. Prices were fairly reasonable for a liquor store. Maybe a bit higher than they should be but not out of control.

Who rated the food here? Did you rate the pork rinds and potato chips? Or did you rate the beef jerky?

Typical looking liquor store on Chapman right on the Circle. Decent selection of bottles to be had, nothing crazy. The prices are fair, particularly if you’re used to Hollingshead or Provisions in the area.

Stopped by a Sunday night and stocked up with 90 USD of single bottles - a wide range of micros as well as malt liquors. Standard liquor store interior. If you are in Orange this is a good place to stock up on some bottles.

I didn’t even realize you could review stores here, but I’m glad as it gives me the opportunity to rave about my favorite! I used to do my shopping at BevMo but why bother now since Beach Front (which is NOT on a beach front btw...it’s right off the 5 FW) carries virtually everything I want. Beach Front has every fine Belgium ale you’ve ever heard of save the #1 rated here...the one you have to go to the Abbey in Belgium to get (which I did last year ...still have a bottle.) Lately I’ve been laying off the Belgiums since I discovered how fine the Russian River brews are. Pliny the Elder is simply the most delicious ale I’ve ever tasted! And Beach Front has two full rows of it along with Blind Pig and all the other Russian River favorites, Tonight I returned from Beach Front with several Pliny’s and a bottle of Russian’s Consecration. (Wow....my first sour. I’m diggin’ it!). Beach Front has all of the great Stone ales as well. If you’re a fan of fine ale and you live anywhere near San Clemente, this is where you’ll find it. On top of that, the owners are super friendly and helpful. And....should I say it? The owners daughter, who is often behind the counter, is stunningly beautiful and just as sweet as she can be. Need I say more?? Go to Beach Front and prepared to be VERY pleasantly surprised.

Rods is just like any other Liquor store (circle K, 7-11) except they tend to carry some pretty good craft beers. Stone, Pizza Port, Green Flash, Avery, etc. It’s a nice resource in a town that is pretty dry compared to my old stomping grounds: Escondido, Ca. If your looking for craft beer in Orange, this is the place.

For cheap cigarettes and very competitively priced craft brews at a liquor store rod’s qualifies as a nice place to stop in orange. the staff during the day is very friendly. The two guys who work at night usually are kind of strange.
