76 Good selection, limited but decent menu. Reasaonable prices. not too hard to get a table. |
76 Small free parking lot in the back. This place is on the corner. Tables for seating and medium size bar. Late lunch and still a good half dozen patrons plus. Service was good along with good knowledge of beers being served. Selection was pretty good. Prices were pretty average. |
84 Visited on a Sunday afternoon with GenDV110+OT, finally made it here. Just don’t get to Alexandria that often, and Ballston location is so close. Pity, because this was an excellent stop with service way better than Ballston. Large and well-appointed space. Sat at the bar, enjoyed numerous beers from their extensive and varied taplist. Great place. |
80 Nice looking spot. Service was friendly but slow. Tap and bottle lists are ridiculous. One of the better selections I’ve run into in a while, and my expectations were very high since I used to frequent the Ballston location when my wife lived in Arlington. Food is pretty decent. Nothing is particularly cheap but you don’t feel like you’re getting ripped off. Definitely worth a stop. |
88 Place review #666. Interesting. This place is about 3 miles from where I come every spring for work, finally realized it in time to make it down for dinner. Nice looking place on the corner with loads of glass. Long bar, lots of tables as well as long community style bar tables. Service was initially a bit slow, but did fine once things got moving. They have a rather long tap list with lots of interesting options, and give you a booklet with the bottle list without even asking for it. The bottle list was pretty grate, actually. If I was not such a crazy trader I would have found 20+ bottles that would have been really exciting to see. Food was decent; the pizza was pretty greasy, but not bad by any means. Definitely a welcome beer spot in Alexandria. |
78 (Visited 07/2014): Rustico’s Alexandria location is on Slaters Lane off the Jefferson Davis highway. There is a shared parking lot amongst the businesses in that area. The brick building is tall and has a clock at the top of it. Inside opens to a table seating area, then the curved bar is in the back. Brick walls and hanging fans in the bar area, and large windows let in light. There is a large board on the far wall next to some artwork that lists the beers by categories of "Crisp", "Hop" and "Fruit & Spice". Behind the bar is a row of tap handles and a cooler with bottles. The beer selection consists of around 30 beers on tap, with breweries like Perennial, Lost Rhino, 21st Amendment, Wild Wolf and DC Brau. There are a couple hundred bottles as well covering domestic and imported craft breweries. Service at the bar on a weekday lunch as pretty good. The bartender was efficient and knowledgeable about the beers, and was kind with samples. The food menu at Rustico is pretty robust. I opted for a burger and it was good. Overall this is a nice spot for food with a solid beer selection outside of the DC/Arlington area. |
92 This is a great place to drink beer. There is a large selection, at least 20+, craft beers on tap that rotate regularly. They also have a rotating selection of two cask conditioned ales as well. Their bottle selection is probably close to 100 with a well thought out beer menu with everything that is available. The menu is designed to help you pick just the right beer. Don’t fall into the peristalsis by analysis and just pick something if you can’t decide, you wont be disappointed.
Their staff is knowledgeable and are friendly to talk to. They have a large dining area and a great bar area with a first come first serve policy in the bar. As for the food, it is great as well. A limited menu but it changes often with the season. One thing that never changes is the pizza. A great crust with excellent ingredients. |

72 Similar tap list to Smoke and Barrel or Churchkey, though more reduced. Lots of bottles - opened the menu and found it mind boggling. Burger was good and generally a good ambiance for a suburban place. Prices on par with Churchkey and Smoke and Barrel. |
86 Been here about 3 times so far and have had an enjoyable time each visit. Medium size bar with comfortable bar seats. Haven’t sat in the dining areas but there looks to be a good amount of tables. Good selection of drafts along with two casks and a sizable bottle list. Draft and cask beers are available in full glass and 4 ounce pours, the latter of which come in a labeled flight/tasting tray if you order 4 at a time. Nice deals on happy hour available daily including $2 off full glasses of drafts/casks. Good food menu including snacks/appetizers, sandwiches, pizzas, and entrees. Enjoyed the deep fried deviled eggs, risotto tots, pork sliders, and pizzas, the last of which has a gluten free option with a chick pea crust. Free 3 hour parking in the back lot that fills up during peak hours, street parking otherwise. Closest metro is Braddock Road, not a convenient walk but still doable. |
