76 Beautiful environment. Biergarten filled with old, young, locals, tourists. A must when in Bamberg. Not all variances are available. A bit disappointing. 5-9-21. |
76 Visited 03.08.21. Two of their own smoked beers on draught and two in bottles. A Bamberg institution! Solid traditional German food served until 10 pm. Many rooms with seating indoors. |

100 A magical place with smoked beers and Bavarian cuisine |
86 That is crazy for me! Smoked beer ? I live in Berlin but i tried smoked beer first time. Is a little bit wird but could taste well. Restaurant has a little garden and traditional interior. Tasty German food. |
74 Sat outside in the courtyard on a warm August evening. The tables were all full, although given the Corona restrictions this doesn’t take much. We had reserved ahead and were glad we did. Beer was excellent, setting was great, food was mediocre. Nice spot. Didn’t pick up any ticks here but to me it’s a must if in Bamberg. |
76 It was finally time to visit this place, the old brewery complex that's now a sprawling restaurant/bar/shop complex, marrying the traditional and the genuine with the touristy, but without compromise in quality when it comes to beer and, I guess, food. Visited with jfb, who's basically a Stammtisch guest there and SinH4, of course. With the pandemic, Bamberg was only slightly packed with tourists, guessing mostly German ones, so there were no issues finding a spot I reckon near the front area inside - the patio was taken up tho I guess. Along the way there's even a shop with a full range and pretty okay prices! That included the two new Heinzlein low alcohol beers! The service was pretty okay, don't remember any major issues. Apart from the Märzen and Kräusen from wooden barrels, the Rauchweizen was on tap and so was Hansla - so we were much luckier than some. All the beers were in excellent shape, of course. The stuffed onion dish was kinda enticing even though I don't eat onions unless I can help it, but I went for the Schweinschäuferla (pork shoulder) - quite tasty! Wi-fi was there and open... and didn't work. A great place to chug a beer or several in any case - at least while the guest numbers aren't excessively excessive - and a must visit while you're in town! |

88 Visited in August 2019 on a 5-day Bamberg and surroundings trip with Caesar. Been back multiple times, loved the place, loved the beers, loved Kristina who did not only serve out the beers quickly but also spoke very good English and was in for a chat. Also, the other night it was crowded as hell and a seemingly random group of people asked whether they could sit at our table. It proved to be a perfect marriage. They were a group of rollercoaster enthusiasts I would describe em and they were even more autistic than me. Just a random group of people with the same hobby, all with different backgrounds. Rarely had a more interesting beer tasting night conversation-wise. Loved it, best night on the trip. Stories shared all across the table. And that while drinking half liters of "keep em coming" Schlenkerla Rauchbier. Good food as well. Priceless evening. |
