80 Nice little brewpub by the Hy-Vee Arena a lot of wood in this place. A decent amount of people in here a lot of hipsters it seemed like, The bartender was nice and polite very friendly, decent amount of beers on tap, not bad pricing on growlers or flights will go back |
80 Very cool hipstery joint in KC. Very friendly service. Pretty good selection, a little expensive but this place is worth a try. |
80 Nice visit on a Saturday afternoon. Fairly busy thanks to a tour bus stopping by. Great interior. Felt at ease the entire visit. 10 of their beers on tap and a couple of guest taps. Beer quality was well above average. Stop by, you won’t be sorry. |
76 Visited early evening on a Saturday. Located in the West Bottoms area of Kansas City, towards Kemper Arena. Parking on the street or in lots scattered around the area. The brewery is located in the former Golden Ox restaurant, which was a Kansas City classic which closed a number of years ago. Both exterior and interior design pay homage to The Golden Ox, and it gives the place immediate character. In particular, the mural inside is fantastic. FYI - order all food and beer at the bar. The layout of the room is the bar to the right as you enter, perhaps 10 seats available, and many tables and booth spread throughout the rest of the room. Decent sized space, accommodated a good crowd on a Saturday. 8 house beers were available on draft, and cover a variety of standard styles. Beer quality was solid, all clean, tasty and well made. Beers are available as 4 beer taster tray (choose your 4), pints, half growlers and growlers to go. Bar snacks also available, we had the queso dip and the Chicago mix popcorn and both were fresh and tasty. Service was great, everyone we interacted with was super happy and seemed to really enjoy being part of the team. Cool spot, absolute must for locals with a sense of history, and for visitors looking for a unique experience. 76 = ★★★ (Worth the visit, must for locals, and visitors with time) I only use the total score, not the component parts. |
