76 Visited July 2019 with my parents. Short walk from city center.. A nice student like bar, helpfull staff. Very hot at our visit, so you just take out the chairs and sit in the street. Beers served in good condition. It's an afternoon / evening bar, so look out for the opening hours.. |
70 Hot summer night, everyone sitting somewhere outside. Got a Ganstaller Kellerbier, which was fine with me. Four taps. The rest were mainly Keesmans. People were friendly, but would have been more fun had I spke better German. |
72 Small inconspicuous pub a short walk uphill, near Spezial Keller and Wilde Rose Keller. Stylish decoration with a combination of modern and vintage elements, a rarity in Bamberg. We felt a little bit uneasy being the only people there on a saturday evening, but other patrons joined us eventually. Friendly (young) service was talkative about the beers they had, I was shown a special keg of Keesmann unfiltered Helles when I inquired about the beer. Modest but solid selection of quality locals. Wood have tried the Thai food if I had known about it beforehand. |
70 Small, quiet pub a little walk up a resident area behind the old town. Unlike most places around it has an almost minimalist, modern-retro feel to it, even though it?s all wood and long tables. A few rotating taps of local and regional beers, as well as some bottles. Serves food as well. With fair pricing and decent service, this place works well as a retreat if the general authenticity around gets a bit overwhelming.

82 A good selection for Germany, more gravity dispense beers that most (£) and neither drowned in music or set to drench you in kitsch. A healthy walk uphill from the centre and delightfully beery. |
78 Small hype place, a bit away from downtown, on the way to Spezial Keller. Good selection of franconian beers on tap, very friendly and helpful service. Nice ambiance. |
80 A cozy place in a residential neighborhood on the Stephansberg (but don’t worry, the walk "uphill" is so short it’s not worthy of being called a walk uphill). Friendly service who pours the beers carefully and joined us for a card game later. Selection is small, but the beers are in excellent shape, and to be honest: What else do you want when there’s both Gänstaller and Witzgall? A definite must on your Bamberg tour. |
