A nice ambiance with an outside patio and lots of space inside. They have a lot of beer on tap both theirs and guest taps. The service is good and the food is decent.

With The Veil, this place is a must in RVA. Came in for a flight and some Pho. The food is amazing and unusual given the vietnamese offerings. I had the vietnamese stew, with loads of beef, carrots and onions, and Vietnam bread, as well as spring rolls. The beer is the highlight, 4 X 6 ounces for 12$. They have a focus on big DIPAs and imperial stouts. Service was prompt and friendly. Free wifi and plenty of parking.

Made the mistake of going to RVA for a brewery run on the day of the Richmond Marathon. Oops. Place was MOBBED mid-afternoon on a Saturday. The staff was doing their best to keep up, but it was really slow. This place has a religious aura about it, of course. We'd been to Mekong, but a long time ago. Now this is like a whole little beer cult compound. The Answer draft list was almost exclusively IPAs, and the ones we tried were very similar and hard to discern. Of course there's also an impressive list of guest taps. We didn't eat, but there are some offerings. Clearly a place to stop in Richmond, but I oddly don't feel the need to return if I'm just visiting .... Brewery #890.

Cool place in Richmond with great service and good beer. Didn't realize none of this was rateable before ordering a bunch but the beer is still all very good, system or not. Right next door to great food and more great beer at Mekong. Flights available.

Interesting, unusual place. Entrance is at the back of where GoogleMaps indicates. Big place, with a humungous draft list, but most of them are the Andall / randall (i.e. unrateable beers). So the fruit beers you get are like juice and the flavoured imperial stouts taste like ice cream. Flights of 4 available for $12+. Friendly serivce and interesting flavoured beers. Fun stop.

Big hall with parking space available in the back of complex. Outside looks like the bus station of my home city. A bit tired ambiance on Sunday evening. People eating take out food at bar (from Mekong?). Only 5 own beers, lots of Andall beers, I had a flight of four. Their own beers were pretty good. Guest tap list was quite impressive and probably the reason for high ratings here.

First stop after landing in Richmond. Fairly easy drive from the airport. This is basically the same building as Mekong, just behind. Parking in front is a nightmare, but there is a large lot in the back which has room. I walked into Mekong first and it was totally packed on a Monday evening. I then walked around the building to find The Answer calm and fairly quiet. They both have a huge taplist; about half of The Answers is devoted to their own straight beers (3 on tap when was there) and Andall beers (perhaps 20 on tap). The rest are guest beers; not a lot of VA brewery loyalty in the guest choices. They had tons of Ommegang for some reason, perhaps remnants of a tap takeover. I noticed that the taps were largely different than those in the restaurant section, which had a bunch of Cigar City. Whats cool is you can order from the same menu here, which means quality Vietnamese food. Yay. Ambiance is nothing special, but service is solid, food is great and its a great place to hide out when Mekong is crazy. Good job.

Top notch Mekong upgrade. The sour and stout randalls and blends are shockingly amazing, especially based on where they are getting the sours. The stouts are adjunct forward and remind me of Wakefield. Pub Thai food hits the spot. 50 or so other drafts of strong stuff. This place is heaven.

Finally got around to visiting the Answer, next to Mekong in Richmond. The kitchen had closed by the time we arrived, but the beer list is solid. They have 49 taps (don’t rate the "Andall" beers, they aren’t rateable), which are 90% different then Mekong. Solid mix of regional, national, and global brews, well worth the visit.
