78 About as good a bar as you could hope for in Rochester. The 50 well-chosen taps featured plenty of interesting stuff. A glass of Abrasive set me back something like $6. The ambiance was fairly inviting, boisterous during my 1am visit on a Saturday night. I could certainly see myself spending a lot of time here if I was a local. Overall, a must-visit if you’re in the area. Recommended. |
82 A hip beer bar in downtown Rochester. A central bar surrounded by seating with a few TVs above the bar. Service was good and place was busy despite the late hour and bartenders knew the beer. A great selection of 49 taps available with a non-local flavor for most. I did not try any food on my visit and prices were decent. A surprising find in Rochester. |
78 Really excellent selection. 49 beers on tap, all quality. Cool atmosphere, TVs, music, younger crowd compared to the rest of the city. Conveniently located next to Grand Rounds Brewpub. $5-7 depending on what you order, fairly priced |
76 Alas! A dedicated beer bar in Rochester! As far as I can tell this is the first since the Clubhouse Brew Pub closed some years ago. This is a fairly small place, located just a couple doors up from the outstanding restaurant, Sontes. Nice interior. 50 taps are impressive, although would have to say that there weren’t many that blew me away. I had the Southern Tier 2X imperial stout and the Odell Tree Shaker. They do their own tap handles it would appear. All are the same shape and have the beer’s artwork on them. Although I would not be usually inclined to go driving at 8am, you dado so at the Tap House every day except Sun, so for those in town for a loved one visiting the Mayo, this is your place to pass the time. |
