Easy to reach. Fairly busy on a friday afternoon. Frequented by both Japanese patrons and foreigners alike. Interesting Japanese taps. Hip young staff. Definitely a location worth visiting, especially since it‘s so easy to get to from Shinjuku station.

A great beer bar not far from Shinjuku station. A short walk away from the central Madness. A sizeable bar with plenty of tables and seats at the bar. An impressive tap selection from Japan and around the world including two hand pull cask ales. Friendly staff and our server spoke perfect English. Working Wi-Fi and no cover charge which puts me off so many other Tokyo bars. The best bar in this vicinity. Reasonably priced flights available.

Fairly busy on a Saturday afternoon, attached to a "brewery" although they had none of their own beers on tap. Not sure if it is active or not. Taplist on chalkboards behind the bar and up to date in the printed list as well. Selection was about 3/4 Japanese, 1/4 American, with some interesting choices mixed in. Most beers available as half or full pours for prices that seemed more or less in family with Japan to me. Flights of four also available for about 1100Yen, any four on tap. Some food, more like bar snack food. The fries were quite good. Everything served steaming hot. Service good as you would expect. Enjoyable stop.

Staff and owner are very friendly and always appear happy. Good selection of food. The food I've had was pretty good. Decent selection of taps, but not great. My main gripe with Watering Hole is cost. Most pints are 1200+. It's definitely one of the more expensive craft beer bars in Tokyo.

A great little bar close to Yoyogi Station and Shinjuku-Gyoen National Garden. The ambience here is great and the service exceptional. They have about a dozen taps split across Japanese and international craft brews as well as a range of cans/bottles. We just had a snack which was good but other meals being served looked good. Definitely a good option if in the area and perhaps even worth seeking out if not. NOTE: When I visited the Ratebeer Map was not quite correct. It is actually about 100m further north up the main road opposite the Shell station.

A solid option to try some Ji-beer but by no means the most extensive selection in Tokyo these days. Inviting atmosphere with very friendly and knowledgeable staff that were more than happy to have a chat all things beery. Great ambiance provided in the single room bar with comfortable seating and beer paraphernalia covering the wall. There’s a strong food focus of American and Japanese fare. A good place to strike up conversation with fellow beer enthusiasts.

Came in here shortly after they opened one afternoon. Its a small place close to the train that holds about 30 people. Beer signs, pint glasses and signs decorate the interior. The service was quick and quite friendly. I happened into a conversation about beer with a member of the staff, possibly the owner. He was extremely enthusiastic and knowledgeable, and wanted to know my opinions about American beer. He went so far as insisting that I use his wifi so that he could see my Ratebeer list. Lots of fun. There are about 20 beers on tap. They are a mixture of Japanese and a few American, all but 1 of which aren’t available where I live. Neat little place overall, and I wish I was able to visit longer. I will definitely make it a point to return here on my next trip to Japan.

This (and maybe Popeye) where the favourite bars in Tokyo that we visited. Selection was good with a mixture of Japanese and American beers. Staff were very friendly, patrons was a good mix of locals and tourists and prices were good.

Visited on the Sunday afternoon, was quite busy. Lots of beer related memorabilia on the walls. Selection was quite good 19 kegs + 2 casks. Nothing super interesting, but all Japanese micros most of which I haven’t seen elsewhere. Also 50-ish bottles in a fridge, really various stuff from Cascade to Loverbeer. Felt like a genuine beer place. Prices are a bit on a high side, especially half pints. Worth visiting.

Watering Hole is a great example of what a bar should be in 2015. Non-smoking, friendly staff, top-tier service, solid food and a nice selection of rotating taps. The only miss is value. They are one of the more expensive bars in Tokyo (especially w/r/t half-pints). I feel that the staff and the atmosphere really make up for the extra ¥150 per beer though. Best atmosphere in a bar in Tokyo imo. Floor to ceiling windows, high ceiling and a comfortable size.
