66 Huge but still crowded beergarden (on a summer evening). There are lots of old trees that divide the area a little bit, so it doesn't feel like oktoberfest 2.0. Prices were not so high. Beer was good. Nothing wrong with coming here. |
66 W/SinH4 and jfb. A bit uphill from the center, past the Heller (Schlenkerla) brewery and the Spezial Keller, this is a huge, huuuuge Biergarten above old cellars (I guess), pleasantly shaded (though the guy who sat us disliked us enough to put us on a table that was the first and the only to start getting fried by the sun). Beautiful place for a little local "visit", even the kids can be taken - there is a playground for them too. The two Wilde Rose beers (brewed elsewhere, this hasn't been a brewery for almost 50 years) were in pretty good shape and form. There are 2 separate tap booths (the weizen one + the lager one, where you have to pay deposit for ceramic mugs), and there's a canteen/restaurant part too. The older lady at the lager booth was pretty gruff, guess it was a bad day or something, but in the end we got our beers. Is it worth the hike uphill? Kinda, yeah, why not - if you have the time. |
70 2019 July. Came here efor theirs exclusive "U" or kellebier. A very cozy and beautiful biergarten, situated on the top of one of Bamberg's hills. Buzzing with local, dim lightning in the evening. Very pleasant atmosphere. Self service, as people mention, be ready to pay additional deposit for a token. |
78 Very nice and cosy Bierkeller, slightly secluded. Fairly good selection. |
62 Walked out to here on Saturday 8th Sep 2018, been too long since I've done this, the last time being in the mid 90's. Not changed much, still a lovely place to have a fresh beer and while away an hour or two. Self service here with a deposit for your stein. Leafy, laid back and quiet (ish). Might need a facelift soon as it's getting a bit tatty around the edges. No idea who brews the beers but the two we had were very pleasant. |
66 Located right next to the Spezial Keller (though you have to walk a bit farther up hill), this is a very popular authentic Keller experience in the city of Bamberg. Nothing to complain about in terms of beer or food, and also not in terms of prices, this is a fun place to spend a couple hours on a warm summer night. Took me long enough to make it here - I should probably come back more often. |
64 Large beer garden on top of the hill, with dozens of tables scattered about around the shrubbery and trees. Probably seats several hundreds of people. And a fair number of insects, as well. They serve lager beer from a bar counter, with a ? 3 deposit for the ceramic mugs. Weissbier are served from a kiosk on the side. Also, there?s a large stage on site. Unspectacular, but decent beers. Nice and lively place, for outdoor evenings. |

48 Huge beer garden. Quite a long way up the hill so if you are in bad form I recomend a taxi. No view of the city. Decent beers. |
42 Große Biergarten. Big beer garden, on top of the hill. Self service, deposit 3€ for the ceramic mug, which you get in return when leaving. Good frankish traditional cuisine, natural tasty pork dishes. Huge garden with hundred tables under trees, and a noisy playground for children. Beer selection limited; pils, keller, radler.. Not an absolute must-be-there, but okay if you have time to spend a walk up the hill. |
