Zhang Men Brewery Taproom - Yongkang

Fun little stop. Flights and tasters as well as an happy hour. Taps for water at all the tables. Lots to drink and try, the staff spoke English very well. They tasted all the beers first to make sure they were OK. Great stop.

Another great Zhang Men Iocation, this one a little ways south of the centre. Small place, with 5 tables, plus 4 bar seats. 20 taps, with flights of 6 x 120mL for 600 NTD, same as the others. Bartender spoke perfect English and was very friendly, and happy to give additional free samples. They had a different list here than the others, so I found a bunch of new stuff. Recommended stop.

Great place, happy I decided to take the time to look for this. Some 21 beers on tap, all own brews. Tasted some and they are fine. Attending service. All relative young people visiting, pleasant athmospere. A nice place.

Definitely one of the best beer spots in Taipei. There were sixteen drafts of broadly different styles from the brewery but no guests. The beer ranged from passable to very good with lightly hoppy and roasty beers being the best. Samplers are available but pretty expensive at 600 NT$/$20 US for six small pours. Staff was helpful and in typical Taiwanese style went to English immediately upon seeing my bad American self. I actually noticed them speaking in English to some Chinese speakers sitting behind me who spoke in Chinese back to them so who knows maybe this place is on some ind of temporal fault. I am awarding bonus points for this.

First stop in Taipei to sample some local beers. The Zhang Men (formerly Hodala) tasting room has sixteen of their beers on tap. Paddles of 6 available. Basic taproom fitout with high tables and stools. Tapboard above bar updated in chalk. Many different styles on offer. Beers are okay and a good introduction to the Taiwanese beer scene. The area around Yongkang has plenty of good eats to tie in with a taproom visit.
