COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cuvée Armand & Gaston Vintage is 100% blend of 3 Fonteinen lambic. It starts as regular A&G, but if the brewery thinks that the blend has outstanding characteristics (for example excellent aging potential) it holds back either the whole batch or part of it (so sometimes part of the batch is released as regular A&G). You can think of it this way: every Armand & Gaston Vintage is Armand & Gaston, but not every Armand & Gaston is Armand & Gaston Vintage. Note: this is entry for the Vintage bottles only. Note: ABV varies. It has been 5.7% (2015) and 6.8% (2017).

UPDATED: JUL 10, 2021 Bottle at home. Vintage 2017. Has a hazy orange colour with a big (!) light beige head. Aroma of oak, rowanberries, apple cider vinegar, forest floor, heather, citric acid, barn yard and dried apricots. Flavour of oak, apple cider vinegar, rowanberries, hay and some barn yard. Has a slick mouth feel, medium body and a light bitterness. Incredicly well balanced and complex! Magnificent! And what's up with that head on a lambic?!

ineedbeer (3410) - California, USA - MAY 18, 2021
UPDATED: MAY 18, 2021 Poured from a 375 ml bottle dated February 2, 2017. Aroma is balanced with light lemon, stone fruit, earthy funk, and light herbal notes. Faint oak and grain notes. Hints of alcohol. Pours a slightly hazy, copper-amber color with a large, thick, pillowy, white head that recedes slowly to a small film that lingers. Flavor has a light acidity with light grain notes. Low bitterness and low alcohol warmth. Light lemon and stone fruit notes with light earthy, herbal notes. Hints of oak. Faint pear notes. Slightly floral. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with high carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a solid geuze and one that is well balanced, but it is pretty mild. This is one that will probably lay down well as it's not too acidic and no characteristic is really dominant.

UPDATED: MAY 16, 2021 2017 VINTAGE Alternative refreshments for this humid weather, and what a refreshment! Aroma of green apple, gooseberry, a minor funk, but it's mostly about fruity esters, uncooked bread dough and spicy oakey notes. Beautiful. Hazy orange pour, fizzy, a tight and medium sized white head with excellent retention and laces on the glass. Tastes sour, but not those killer sour that make your stomach pucker and burp for 3 days and start a self fermentation. A gentle, fruity and tasty one. With all the aroma notes: apple, gooseberry, barn funk, spicy oak, fruity esters and uncooked bread dough. Low sweetness for a generally dry character. Light-medium body, high carbonation, creamy and very smooth. Majestic beer from 3F, as it often happens in their premium beers. This is one of them. Classy and elegant.
