Tachibana / Dotombori Ji-Beer

As a beer venue this is a step behind the city's better establishments. Nice set-up and the food looked quite good (didn't try) but the house beers are somewhat pedestrian. But to be fair are well priced. Given the depth of options in the immediate area not sure I need to return.

Alt & Kolsh. Best imitation of these classic German styles I have met in Japan. The place is very nice & comfy. When entering building from the street it’s better to use left entrance, otherwise you can have trouble finding this place.

Old brewpub restaurant located below a kabuki theater (expect a matching crowd). 3 beers on tap, basically mediocre copies of boring German styles. Food is decent, specially for lunch set deals. Probably the lamest beers I tasted in Osaka, so clearly won’t be back....

A great looking little place, the staff were friendly and outgoing and the beer while nothing to write home about was alright. Plus it’s cool drinking it with the a/c, peaceful Japanese music, quiet of the empty restaurant while enjoying the view of the big copper tanks. Worth popping in while shopping or sightseeing around Namba for lunch. I got the 880 yen tofu burger lunch other meals were from 680-2000 yen and pricier for dinner. In the afternoon on a day without a show upstairs it was a quiet peaceful place. It is smoking but luckily when I went the other 2 customers weren’t smoking so no problem. I liked this place quite a bit and if they had a third tap with one of their seasonals I would probably come by pretty regularly. It would also make a good place for a date or group part, the place is a maze of small rooms in the back for groups on top of the fairly large front dining room plus a long counter-top bar, seating for at least 100 people?

Traditional Japanese food with Osaka’s speciality: pressed sushi. Like mentioned below, the two beers (alt & kölsch) are ok but nothing really special here. To find this, just seek for the Kabuki theatre.

A Japanese style restaurant and brewpub under the Shochiku Kabuki theatre in Osaka. Their two beers are ok but served far too cold and a bit pricey. Not really worth making a special trip to, but if you happen to be watching Kabuki upstairs, would be worth a stop for refreshment.
