64 Somewhat limited hours and a little out of the centre, but easily walkable. Fairly big, with lots of outside seating in the warmer months. 8-10 regulars on tap plus 4 seasonals. Set flights of 5 available for €10.50; otherwise, it’s 0.25 or 0.5L pours. Order at the counter, no table service. Beers were generally very sweet and not very well-done. Not one of my Dutch highlights. |
90 So many negative comments - we enjoyed it, and would have gone back if it was not so far in the wrong direction for us! As I see some have described it as 'under.. ' or 'in the windmill', I think some people may have gone into the wrong bar, as we almost did! It is not under or attached to it, another bar in. It is to the side of that.
We enjoyed all their 4-5 beers, all at a lower price than anywhere else we went in the city. Service was fast, English speaking staff helpful and friendly. It was very busy but they managed to serve everyone with little delay - queues formed naturally and people were served in turn. We also found their beers in bottles in supermarkets, at a reasonable price and took them back for night-capping in the hotel. |
74 Great place which I found by chance. I'd say that if you're a beer lover and you're in Amsterdam this would be a must visit. |
74 Visited February, 2017. It's a brewery under a windmill. The beer itself is just so-so. Service was fine, it's in a freaking windmill, but you go for the novelty of drinking beer in a windmill and you never need to go back. |

58 Brouwerij 't IJ classic windmill brewery where I visited now for the first time. Very busy, touristic vibe. Beer list is mostly their old classics but I had their new Amarillo Red IPA (which was amber ale). They serve only snacks: sausage and cheese. One visit was enough. |
