Het Bierhuis

I was really sirprised by this small shop. Well, small, it appeared small. Inside the place was packed with beers, interesting line of cans but also some small local breweries. Very friendly owner / staff. I definitely need to go back to check it out in more detail. Worth the 15-20 minute walk from the train station I'd say.

This shop is located on the southern edge of the centre of town, so if you viewed Breda as a clock face it sits between 5 and 6. It's on a street called Van Goorstraat and is quite easy to find, I reckon just 7-8 mins walk maybe less from the Grote Markt should get you there. We visited on Tuesday 26th September 2017.

Inside its shall we say rather busy, the majority of the shop is given over to beer but there is some wines and spirits to your right as you go in. The beers are set out by country with Belgium taking much of one of the far walls and the Netherlands one of the others, central islands of beers are hampered a little by many boxes of beers/stock scattered here and there on the floor.

The prices were very good and the selection was great, particularly the Dutch beers and nice to see a great focus on local breweries. I tried to strike up conversation with the owner but found him to be pretty unwilling to engage. My one way discussion querying whether a beer I'd picked (it was whisky cask aged) was Islay or not was almost completely one way. However boxes not put away and a grumpy owner aside the shop was very good.

Update 2015: selection is still decent, prices are ok, will visit again. original 2013 Small shop with a decent selection, arranged by country, but watch out for the Expiration Dates... since there were a few beers that were past that Expiration Date and still were in the shelves. prices were decent.

What a great store right at the edge of a beautiful city of beer. The selection of beers is great! With over 300 different beers. The people that work there know everything you want to know and will help you guide you to your next best beer experience.

Small but welcoming shop. Good selection of 75cl bottles and a nice mix of beers from The Netherlands and Belgium. Also a few from other countries. Staff are friendly and knowledgable. Prices are good for The Netherlands.

Leuk winkeltje, beetje verstopt in een klein straatje. Voor een winkel in Nederland hebben ze een prima aanbod en ook de prijzen zijn prima.

A bit hidden but still on the edge of the centre of Breda. Nice selection of both Belgian and Dutch beers. Pretty cheap actually with 1,95 EUR for a Rochefort 10 and 5,95 EUR for a Heen & Weer 75cl.
