Convenient location if you are visiting the Golden Gate Bridge. Mostly a liquor store with a med/small beer selection in the back refrigerators. Mostly good quality large craft breweries.

I have only ever ordered from them online, so take this review for what it's worth.

The selection is decent enough, at least when you're shopping from your couch. I have ordered some stuff from them a couple times as the prices are reasonable and their shipping is cheap, at least within the Bay Area--by the time I paid the bridge toll or BART fare, it would already be more than the $10 or whatever it cost to ship me 6 bottles of Boon Black Label.

From the other reviews and accounts I've heard, this isn't a must visit in person. But it's fine if you're just ordering stuff online.

Not a destination for beer at all. Maybe yesterday, not any more. Not worth the change in the meter. Score too high.

Metered parking out front can be a challenge at busy times. Store is fairly small and about 85% wine. Beer in the back, well curated but smallish selection; about half in coolers, half out. I did find a Black Butte XXVIII, which has not made it yet to the south bay. Service was solid at all times. I am guessing this is one of those places (like K&L) that really shines when you interact with them via HTML rather than a visit.

I’ve purchased online from Blackwells a few times now. Shipping is quick and bottles are well packaged. Never had a broken bottle or lost shipment. Communication is great when I’ve had questions, and tracking number is provided right away. Pricing is reasonable for US beers. International beers a little pricey, especially rare bottles, namely Cantillon. I’ve found Cantillon for 1/3 the price they sell it for. It sells at almost any price however, so it’s hard to fault them...

Nice place with friendly staff. Very good selection of beers (quality and quantity) with prices consistent with what I’ve seen around town. They appear to have a number of "rare" bottles, too.

I have been buying from Gary for a while. I don’t usually rate places until I visit. I stopped in to meet Gary and, he’s great. New me by name as soon as I introduced myself and asked how I have been. Selection in store is solid. Gary tries to get as much diversity in as possible. Great prices on the whisky we picked up and I was able to complete my collection of Absolut City series vodkas. I like their prices a lot and always check blackwell’s when looking for west coast beers.

Blackwell’s Wine and Spirits carries a wonderful selection of Lost Abbey, Russian River, Stone, Ballast Point, Deschutes, Port, Avery, Oskar Blues, and many other American craft beers. Additionally, they offer a variety of delectable foreign brews, including La Chouffe, Rodenbach, Gouden Carolus, Rochefort, Aecht Schlenkerla, Aventinus, and more. The customer service is simply second to none. The staff is extremely friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. It’s quite refreshing to deal with people who are both competent and amiable. Prices are very reasonable, and I have yet to see a better deal. Blackwell’s carries a variety of fabulous beers, has great customer service, and very reasonable prices. Highly recommended.
