64 Brewpub in the hipster area of Pigneto. 4 homemade below average beers on tap, Did not try the food, but I think it's better than their beers. Not worth the detour, but good for ticks in case you are in the area |
80 Very nice cozy brewpub. Food and beer were excellent. This is a very nice beerplace. 4 taps of own beers in excellent condition and quality. Maybe the best beers I had in Rome overall. Very friendly service. |
84 Located just a 2 minutes walk from Birra+, easy to recognize thanks to the big glass windows and all the brewing equipments easily visible from the outside. The place itself is rather small (especially the bar area with just a couple stools), a dozen small tables not too far from each other, but definitely cozy and nicely furnished. Beer choice is quite limited: there are usually 4 house beers (or 3 house beer togheter with 1 guest beer during special occasions) and that’s it. The quality though, is certainly acceptable. No mind blowing beers (yet!) but no sub-par beers as well. The head brewer is a very kind and friendly dude. It’s also nice to pay slightly less during the happy hour/aperitivo time. Perhaps my favourite feature of this place is the food. Glorious food. Traditional yet innovative, well presented without the portion being too small. I can still taste in my mind that slow cooked beef cheek, which could very well be the best meat I’ve ever eaten in my life. It may not be a place to visit regularly if you’re a ticker (like me), but other than that, Bistrò is a wonderful addition to the always lively Pigneto neighbourhood. ***Update 20-05-2015*** Visited a few other times and my feelings toward this place are getting better each time. 72 Rome’s only real brewpub that I could find has a stylish modern interior in the funky slightly rough neighborhood of Pigneto. Easy to combine with a visit to Birra+ for more beer and Il Porchettoni for a Porchetta sandwich. The staff were friendly and excited to see foreign customers, my wife is convinced she was the first asian person there! Anyways, one waitress spoke English the brewers/bartenders couldn’t but were kind enough. 4 taps and they do growlers plus had a winter warmer bottles at 10 Euros. All the beers I had were solid, no tasting set yet as in most beer places in Rome they are happy to offer samples to help you make up your mind. Just ask for samples of 2 pick one and order a 5 euro pint. Repeat and there you go all 4 taps as tasters + 2 pints for 10 euros. A really nice place, I liked that they had signs saying local beer made at 0.05km or 5 meters from here~! |
