Just popped in yesterday to get setup with all of my equipment and supplies to brew my first brew- a mead. Rob was a great guy to talk to! I had read and watched a lot of video’s on making a mead, but it was so helpful to talk thru the game plan with someone who had made a mead before. This will be my go to supply store!

Had a chance to stop in here recently when dropping off entries for a competition. Small shop that has a pretty broad spectrum of supplies including fitting and honey. As far as I could tell, covered pretty much everything you could need out of a homebrew shop, including CO2 tank filling. If you’re in the area, be glad you have a shop like this nearby. Staff is somewhat knowledgeable as well, thought a touch aloof.

Good in-store experience. Bill, the manager, was very helpful, offering his advice every step of the way, and answering all of my questions. Store has most of your needs, and if not, will offer suggestions. Prices seem a bit high compared to other home brew shops.

The in-store experience was fantastic. I went last weekend and found my new favorite shop. I’ve been homebrewing for about 5 years and have done all my purchasing online and got advice from the many online resources. It was a great experience to finally be able to talk to people locally who enjoy this hobby and also to see all the stuff in person. Prices were competitive. I will be back for more gear and ingredients. Thank!

Great homebrew shop. This place has moved from there old warehouse location to a more cozy retail spot. These guys here really know there stuff and can help you out with just about anything you’d want to brew. Great service and they still run the online store as well. If you homebrew in the chicagoland area this is a must stop.

I placed an order with this sad excuse for a business in late September for a burner, a book, and some hops. It took about three weeks for the book and hops to arrive, after numerous emails from me. Then they charged my account for the full amount mid-Oct, but still had not shipped the burner. It is now the end of October, two full weeks after they have charged my account for an item they claim is out of stock...does that confuse anyone besides me? I’ve requested an immediate refund and order cancellation, five weeks after I first made the order. This company is a complete mess, and I strongly discourage anyone from dealing with them. UPDATE: They finally refunded me on 11/13, nearly two months after my initial order, and while I will probably never deal with them again, I have to say in fairness that their prices and selection were good, which is why I shopped there in the first place, but they seriously need to get their service dept organized.

While Mt Prospect sounds like a far ways from the Chicago Lakefront, it really is easy and fast to get to. It only took me about 30 minutes on a Saturday. Once you get there it’s a bit harder to find but not that bad. It’s inside a warehouse through the back door. Knock twice and say, “Joe sent me” It’s mainly an internet business but the staff was helpful and knowledgeable. They told me they hope to open 3 retail stores in the Chicago area in the near future. They seem to have a really great selection of product. From what I have seen so far in my limited hb experience, it is the best in the Chicagoland area. Worth the short drive to get to. CD

So this place is mostly a warehouse, its hard to find, and you have to enter through a back door. I walked past the forklifts and pallates to come to this area that’s surrounded by fence, four people are back there one at the cash register and three in the back weighing, counting, and I feel like a raid is gonna happen any time on these fenced operations. ......... It turns out they do a lot of mailorder and really only do this walkin stuff to help out the local brewers. IMHO they are the only good brew store in Chicagoland. They have tons of grains and brew supplies. They all know what they’re doing, most of them homebrew themselves, and they’re really nice. So much so that after we discussed meads, I was handed 2 bottles of 4 year old meads for free. Amazing! The only downfall is not tons of yeast and their hops are almost all pellets. But great place, the drive is worth it!
