42 Another newly-established grocery store chain to cash in the Mainland Chinese tourism boom, this ’Mart’ has only half a dozen shops scattering across HK, all of them are located at the hearts of the busiest shooping districts. Unlike the well-established PrizeMart franchise, this store specializes in imported exotic snacks / foodstuffs (mostly from Thailand and South Korea), wines and beers. Price is considerably cheaper than the local supermarket chains, but taste-wise, let’s just say many of their snacks are not my thing. I prefer the wholesome North American goodies from PrizeMart :P As for beers, its selection is few and far between, but is exotic and sometimes surprising - from the previously damn expensive lineups from Japan’s Abashiri Drafts, to Portuguese Super Bock beers - all sold at half the supermarket price, so its bargain attractiveness is here, and for local exotic beer watch, this is not a bad place at all. |
