48 Took me ages to find this place mainly because of construction works. But location is just next to metal-merchandise shop which was way easier to find. Old looking, worn out, smell of stale spilt drinks on floor. Looks like tourist trap. Macros on tap. Not worth to visit. |
54 What an interesting place. A bit dark and almost dank, like an Irish pub meets The Lost Boys. Giant TV screen playing football when I visited. Half a dozen macro taps and four or so Vienna beers. Back bar was closed. When I asked what time it opens they said "October." Classic |

50 Made a short stop here after shopping on the Mariahilfer Straße some months ago. Had a quick beer, that I couldn’t rate as I didn’t smell anything but smoke. Beer selection is actually quite good, but for what? What’s the point of a craft beer bar in small room for smokers? That’s like offering upscale food and then placing all dining tables beside the toilets. As long as this is covered in smoke I don’t see any reason for another visit.
Side note: I decreased my rating a bit because of the bunch of obvious fake reviews (see older ratings). Nice try. |
54 hmm, overall decent place if it just wasnt for the smoking. They advertise it as a different place than the Shamrock pub, but really its the same thing. Dogstar is basically the smoking room of Shamrock. But how smart can you be that you make the Craft beer area the smoking room? The problem is that the waiter from Shamrock also refuses to go to Dogstar to pick up the beer so you have to go yourself. You can sit in Shamrock with your Dogstar beers, but when picking up the beers there was so much smoke in Dogstar it did not make so much difference. No food in both places. Selection is decent, but basically only international beers here, I think 3 beers from Austria. |
54 Unexpected for Vienna good and nice beer choice, but the ugly think is that place is smoking and you have to make an effort to survive in the heavy cloud during the order. When you can go to the Shamrock Irish pub, which is doodr to door and relax there.
Without smoke, I’d rate The Best in Vienna for beer lovers place, but unfortunately cannot.. |
74 Modern looking bar located inside an Irish pub. Typical modern craft beer decor. A satisfying selection of mostly German, British, Danish etc. craft beers on tap and a healthy bottle selection. Good for at least two to three evenings of drinking. Friendly service. Too bad it’s a smoking area. |
78 I was a little hesitant to come here as a non smoker based on previous review but I found it well ventilated . Ideally they would have a non smoking section. This has got to be the best craft beer selection in Vienna. Knowledgable staff . A bit pricey but not unreasonable . Gives me a lot more reason to come back than 1516. |
86 A little place tucked inside a lame Irish pub. Great beer selection. For Vienna. A lot of highly rated beer from mikkeller and to øl. Good service. A bit pricey. I will return while in Vienna. |
54 We visited 24.5.2015. Is located in the Shamrock pub, same owners but different bar. This bar is also the smoking area for the whole place, which is a no go. Same beers than Brickmakers have, assume they have some relationship. Was closed on Sunday. Will not come back as smoke would kill us. |
